    Game runs choppy and slow

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything on here or Google, but at certain times, the game runs extremely choppy, almost like I'm trying to play Microsoft Flight Simulator X on my old Gateway from 1993. It happened in 15 too, and I don't know for sure if it's just The Show because I hardly play anything else on the PS4. I know there are some minor framerate issues, but this is definitely different. But the batting PCI will look choppy as I wave it around the zone, and the sluggishness actually affects gameplay because it tends to delay my inputs. Oh, and this is against the CPU offline. In fact today I allowed the tying run when Travis Wood threw a wild pitch because of this.

In any case, I'm wondering if there's anything I can do about this? I did a database rebuild before the game came out too. I'm wondering if there might be some program I don't know about running in the background? It may or may not be the game because like I said, the only other games I'm playing are from Nintendo, and I don't see a whole lot of people having this problem. It doesn't happen for the whole game, just happens every now and then. In a game that depends so much on timing, that is very bad.

Are you playing online or offline? I've read that there are some serious issues involving the online servers, but I don't play online myself. If you play offline, I can't imagine why you'd have anything like this. The game is great on my end.

One thing to check if you have a newer tv make sure your tv is in game mode. I was lagging and choppy the other day and was sure it was a bad ps4 because it happened with all my controllers. I use meter pitching so it was easy to see the delayed input when I am completely missing the second button tap despite hitting it in time. Turned on game mode and all choppiness and lag went away.

not sure if this is what youre thinking but MLB16 is noticeably "choppier" in many ways, framerate seems to have dropped which I dont understand. still waiting on a real patch to see if it gets fixed or not

Thanks for the responses. I'm playing offline, and my TV is set to game mode. I'm thinking it might be something with the PS4 and not the game, otherwise everyone else would have this problem. It only really seems to happen during the pitcher/batter. And like I said, it happened with 15 as well. Is there some setting I could change to help this?

I really hope there's nothing wrong with my PS4.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. The framerate drop doesn't seem to be all that bad, but this is something totally different. It gets so bad when I'm pitching and batting that it actually delays my input.

Check out my example with the 60 FPS video near the end - it's the best way I could really illustrate this problem as it relates to hitting.

I think the bottom line is that some of us are more sensitive to it than others, and it definitely doesn't happen in all parks and situations.

My game runs smooth as butter on my Plasma but there are some definite frame rate drops when playing on my new Vizio 4K.

I see stuttering in cutscenes, but it is the same as it has been since MLB 14. I was seeing some unresponsive menu actions last night in the manage roster screen when trying to add players to the 40-man.

Are you able to try and play without any connection to the Internet? That or turn off any sort of MLB.com in game updates.

I don't imagine it would be a controller issue but do you have a second you could try?

I have noticed some significant "chops" as well in some of the visuals. I use timing hitting so i can just focus on the ball and swing if it's in the zone. Well sometimes, I've noticed it mostly on really slow sliders down around 80-83 mph, it seems to "skip" or "chop" in the air a half second and it completely throws me off.
Second most common occurrence: I use meter pitching and have found myself spiking some pitches into the ground sometimes because the bar seems to be choppy at times as well. Thought maybe it was just my eyes spazzing out but it looks like the general consensus is some framerate issues.

Yes, this is what I tried to illustrate with the video I posted in that other thread (link is above). It's the effect 30 FPS has on the eyes - it looks like the ball skips frames instead of being one object in smooth motion.

To the people saying going offline or game mode will help - Both of the examples I posted in that other thread were taken from the exact same TV with the exact same settings. One looks smooth and the other does not. The only difference was the park that I was playing in.

Yes. This is exactly what's happening to me. I might try and unplug my ethernet cable, see what that does.

Thanks. I tried searching, but one was on page 6, and the other was on page 21 lol. Apparently it's happening a lot at Wrigley, which obviously stinks for me. So maybe it is the game. Could explain why it's not a bigger issue for a lot of people.
