Re: Hitting tips
My basic usage is to use normal swing as my base. If it's a power hitter in a power situation than I'll use the power swing. Mostly just first strike than back to normal. I use contact when I have two strikes mostly. -

Re: Hitting tips
For me, a good method is to look at your batter's hot zones and find the quadrant (4 of the 9 boxes) he is the best in (up and away, low and in, etc.). Up until 2 strikes try to only swing at pitches in that quadrant. This way you will naturally take pitches and work counts by narrowing the zone you are looking in as ALL hitters do worse when trying to cover the whole strike zone so there's no reason to do that yourself until you have to. This will also allow you to get good at hitting in all zones since if you are bad at hitting high pitches, you will have at least a couple hitters on your team that like the ball up so over time, you will get better at hitting high pitches by hitting with those batters. Sometimes, you will want to have an overall strategy against a pitcher like just looking for pitches up in the zone vs a sinker baller (make him get the ball up).
-Normal is the swing you should use a vast majority of the time. With hitters with good contact ratings, you should be able to do just fine using a normal swing even with 2 strikes as they will have a naturally big PCI.
-Contact is the swing to use with 2 strikes with most batters. And of course use it when you absolutely have to make contact like a runner at 3rd and 1 out or less as a ground ball or fly ball will score the run.
-Power is the swing to use very rarely. The power swing may be more useful with contact hitters vs power hitters because using the power swing sacrifices quite a bit of you batter's PCI and most power hitters aren't the best contact hitters and have smaller PCIs usually. Plus, power hitters already have good power ratings obviously so I feel using the power swing hurts more than it helps with them. Don't be afraid to experiment though and compare the PCI size of a hitter's normal swing and power swing to get a decent picture on how much that hitter is sacrificing on the power swing and if you are comfortable hitting with the smaller size of that PCI.Comment

Re: Hitting tips
honestly, i dont think it matters, if you get good wood on the ball no matter the swing type, you can drive the ball out of the park.Toronto Blue Jays

Re: Hitting tips
Do you guys use analog or button for swings? I use analog, mostly bc if I use the button configuration I end up not holding the button down and I check swing relentlessly.Comment
