    Does playing shallow work?

Would playing an elite elite defensive CFer (Kier, Pillar, A.Jones) consistently shallow work in MLB the Show?

Would it work in real life?

Can't find much information about whether playing shallow actually works besides this Bill James piece- http://www.billjamesonline.com/does_..._shallow_work/

Basically would it be beneficial to play an elite CFer shallow every AB in MLB the Show?

As a centre fielder i can attest it is way harder to make a play running back then running forward, plus if you are deep you can keep the ball in front of you opposed to sailing over your head to the wall. This is how it works in real life and for the shallow flies you will get, it does not jsutify the triples and doubles you would let up because of it. In the show id expect it to be somewhat similar but it is a video game after all

As a pitcher, the last thing I wanted to see was my CF playing shallow. This is only a good strategy if a run scored wins the game and there is a runner on third with less than two outs.
