Cant Throw to Second on Steals?

I don't know what's going on here, but after the patch I suddenly cannot throw to second on steal attempts. It's happened in three different games now - guy takes off running, I lay on the triangle button, catcher stands up and does nothing. I gave up three steals in my last game - one steal to a guy with 40-speed! I cannot for the life of me figure out what's going on. Throwing down to second has always been automatic (not as in 'auto-throw,' but as in as soon as I saw the runner go I just instinctively hit the button.) This has me so confused I'm wondering if all the sudden I'm doing something wrong (it is 'triangle' to throw down to second, right?)

Do you have throw cancelling on? You could be hitting the button multiple times therefore throwing then cancelling, throwing then cancelling.

I'm having no issues post patch throwing to 2nd, or 3rd, or snap throws to first post patch.

Happened to me twice last night. It seems that the timing of the throw input is slightly different now. I have successfully thrown to second on steal attempts also, so it is not every time. I think the issue is pressing the triangle button a slight bit too early. I'm not sure if something changed or was tuned, but it may take some getting used to and re-acquainting ourselves with the timing of pressing the button...

Glad I'm not the only one. Again today it happened! So when do you throw it? Do you pre-load your throw before the pitch arrives (which is what I've always done) or do you wait until the ball arrives to the catcher?

I've always, and still do, pre-load my throw while the pitch is on its way to the catcher.
