    Pitch meter speed

So for those of you that were so helpful on my hitting and taking issues, can you give me a leg up on the pitch meter? I rarely, maybe once or twice a game throw a pitch with perfect release, if even that often. Is there a way to reduce the speed of the cursor thing from the speed of light to something like the speed of sound? Basically I pick a pitch and pray that it's somewhere near where I aim.

I apologize for being late to the party on this stuff. I don't see any threads specific to this issue.

No, its dependant on pitchers speed to the plate.

It's dependent on the wind-up of the pitcher. Some are fast, some are slow, some start out slow then get stupid-fast. It's why I switched to pulse. I prefer meter, but I don't want to have to learn a hundred different timing patterns.

To me it seems as though once it gets to the top of meter, the speed to the release is the same. The time it takes to reach the top of the meter varies with pitcher and situation. Once it starts moving from the top of the meter to the release point I say "aaaaaaaaand pitch" in my head. (or sometimes outloud). I use that technique with every pitcher I use and I hit the release mark about 80% of the time.

My not work for everyone, but it works for me.

Time that "aaaaaaaaand pitch" for me and tell us how long exactly it is so I can hit the release point 80% of the time! It definitely seems related to the difficulty though as well. I play on dynamic and I can hit the spot far more often on HOF than I can when it moves up to Legend

Just go into practice mode (pitching and batting) and time the throws/hits to find something that works for you. I spend the majority of my time in batting practice before getting into games.

Definitely recommend using the warmup pitches with each pitcher you bring in to get comfortable with the different timing/release points.

Can I reduce the variability in pitches?

Are you sure ? I always thought it was something stat related.

Wouldn't say I'm 100% sure, but I remember in previous games great pitchers like Cliff Lee would be unusable for me because they were just blindingly fast out of the stretch.

One thing that bugs me is even with the elite guys, I can get perfect release on a curveball in the dirt and he will miss it high and hang it right in the lower center quadrant of the zone, resulting in an easy home run. Even with 87+ rated pitchers...tried to play with the consistency slider will have to continue my experiements.

Elite pitchers do that in real life though? They just do it less often than non-Elite pitchers.

Alot of that has to do with the pitchers individual control attribute. Taijuan Walker has an overall rating of 85 but his control is 57. Last year I used to used Paxton who was rated in the 70's but his control attribute was horrible. When throwing his curveball I didn't even bother aiming it and it never hit the same place twice. I threw a perfect game with him. I don't think there is a slider adjustment that will affect a pitchers individual control attribute.

Very true, I just find the pitch variance a little too much. I play on Legend so if I miss a spot it's usually extra bases or 4...when I call for an 0-2 curve in the dirt I expect my pitcher to not miss right over the middle of the plate. To be fair with my crap relievers it's realistic but with the elite guys like Kershaw who should not miss a high fastball right in the middle of plate, ever. Atleast not when you do "perfect release" via meter.

Watch one of Kershaw's appearances from start to finish and count how many times he shouts at himself immediately following a pitch.
