How low should you let your position players' energy levels drop before you give them a day off?

For instance...Matt Holliday typically gets a day off when the suggestion pops up because he's older and I don't want him to injure himself. For Molina, I'll usually give him off 2 days a month and its typically on Sundays because they are day games following a Saturday night game. For everyone else, its basically how I feel at the time.
And no there is no way to check a player's energy during the game.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

For me it depends on their durability and age and position.

For my catchers I usually follow the general rule of no day games after a night game; then for standard players I usually try to give a day off if they slip under 60% stamina or so. For star & superstar types (guys who should play 150+ games, barring injury) I keep them around until 40% or so.Last edited by NEOPARADIGM; 05-15-2016, 03:34 PM.Comment

Yes player performance is effected when you get the message popup talking about a player needs a day off. They also have increased chance at injury when tired.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Like many others have stated in here I try to give my catchers the day off if their was a night game before. I also check and see how long it is until my next day off. If there are some tired players but the next day I have a day off, I usually let them play.Comment

Does substituting out a player mid way through a game help conserve more energy then if they just play the whole game? Or does starting a player just drop their energy by a set amount no matter how long they actually play in the game?Comment

Similarly does bringing him late (say as a PH or defensive sub) count as playing and no day off, count as he got the day off because he didn't start, or somewhere in between?
Same for DH'ing. For example, I'm the Marlins and Chris Davis is normally 1B, but we're playing in Boston for interleague play. ^DH'ing takes considerably less energy, yes. Not sure about the other questions. I know playing a guy sparingly (PH in the 7th or whatever) used to burn him the same as a start but I'm pretty sure they've tweaked that so it's better now.Comment

I have noticed when bringing in a guy who was given a rest day to PH, they typically get most if not all the energy restored that they would have gotten had they never entered the game.
So for off days for star players in crucial games, I'll bring them in for a key PH situation without thinking twice.
I've noticed that the game doesn't always recommend that a player get a day off at the same point on the energy bar, and that the recommendations can vary from player to player.
For example, I often get sub suggestions when guys get around 60%, but I recall not getting suggestions to rest A-Gon until he was around 40% in the latter portion of the season.
So I wonder if the sub suggestion logic is dynamic and takes into account factors besides just the energy level of a player.Comment

When my position players get down around the 33% or less range, I will sit them for a game and only bring them in if I am desperate for players. The position players will commit more errors in the field when their energy levels are below this 33% range and I have enough rested players committing errors. I don't need tired players committing more.
But I do think the fatigue levels for position players is too high in this game.Comment
