Baserunners Speed (not the other thread about baserunning)

I briefly browsed the 40 something pages of the baserunning thread and I didn't see anything about this. That one is more about the AI.

My issue/question is about the difference between CPU and Human base runner speeds. One example I have is between R. Cano and P. Fielder. Same line drive shot to the gap that hits the wall between CF and RF.

Cano (40 speed) almost thrown out at 2nd
Fielder (29 speed) into 2nd standing up.

It's been pretty consistent is the games that I've played. Cano can hit a shot to the gap and almost get thrown out at 2nd every time.

I just feel there is a noticeable difference between the CPU base runner speed and the human players. For one, I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this at all. And for two, I think it would be nice in the future to separate the runner speed sliders instead of having only one slider for both CPU and Human.

There are a lot of dynamics in the example you provided. If you could set it up and time the players and get solid numbers for HUM and CPU runners, then it could be measured for sure, but just going off of a ball in play and a close play at a bag versus a stand up double involves way too many variables.

Too many variables in that situation to draw any real conclusions. But I get the premise behind what you're saying. I see more inconsistencies with fielding than speed though. But I agree that separate sliders for CPU/Human for all the baserunning and fielding stuff would be nice.

I've hand-timed (so subject to error as I'm not a pro scout or anything - also used the timer app on my phone) guys while testing where I want my baserunner speed slider.

It seems, that at least home-to-first, there doesn't seem to be any difference. I only timed them when they were hustling out hits to make sure I got their max speed as much as possible (i.e. running hard through the bag trying to beat it out).

I never did home-to-second time testing - perhaps I should now that you mention it.

I'm never against more sliders. Ever.
