I have a sytem that seems to work for me pretty well. I make sure to have a scout set up in each of the four areas first. Then I spend all of April discovering new talent. Your specifics will need to fit your team needs but I always try to find

Catchers with arm strength and fielding
Outfielders with speed and arm strength
Infielders with contact and power
Left Handers with a focus on Makeup
Right Handers with a focus on Velocity

Then all of May I go through the players discovered and scout specific ones that I think might be great. I typically head into the draft with about 40+ players fully scouted.

I sim most games, so do you just need to advance day by day doing this? Or does it depend on your scouts eff and that kind of thing? Then I can go back to simulating a block of days/weeks a time?
