Why are attributes going down (PIC)

As you can see, his morale is high and he's playing well. Why are his attributes going down? It is happening with most players

For some players, it could be a "rearranging of points". For example, a guy with 88/88 ratings (88 actual, 88 pot) but still developing somewhere will be forced to "reallocate" so that his OVR stays equal to his POT...unless he can get an increase in his potential. Depending on what's still trying to go up, the "forced decline" in other areas could be somewhat significant.

Incidentally, this actually can HELP older players. Aging can shave off points in areas, but if he's doing well, those areas can keep rising even as his OVR and/or other ratings erode. I'm seeing that with my 34-year-old Chris Davis in my carryover. His ConVsR and PwrVsR are still increasing, probably thanks to his production, everything else is falling apart. If he lasts until he's 40, he might look like Papi's ratings.

Incidentally part II - Morale can send a player ABOVE his POT. His actual is still below, but morale doesn't care and is the exception to the rule. So his development will "Reallocate" but morale could give it back, effectively.

For Betts, I would check coaching and see if that's it. He's not at his potential, so it shouldn't be any "reallocation" going on.

If you are early in the season, for some reason players seem to start with negatives faster than they gain positives. I notice that a lot with my players. Then, as the year goes on, those negatives could improve.

Also this year performance matters. The degree seems inconsistent from what I can tell (it seems to be more a modifier with some randomness than anything absolute), but if Betts is struggling vs L at the moment, maybe that is a partial explanation.

Damn! thanks for that, thats amazing!

But yeah the only thing i can think off is that he might be struggling vs lefties, cuz coaching is fine as I hired all new coaching staff w/o negative attributes. And yes, I'm early in the season, 25 games played.

Well I hope they rise soon, cuz ot just doesn't make sense some things

Here are good examples of what I call "reallocation".

They are from my Marlins carryover, currently at the World Series in 2021. Probably see it a lot there as a lot of players around the league in general are maxed, especially the irl prospects from MLB14 and fictional draftees from then.

A tame one and a battle of conflicting forces one.

[Tame one, perhaps the most typical type "reallocation"...largely tame but you can see it happening]
        Damian Boeve, SP, 27, 99/99
        -2 Stamina
        +3 H/9
        +2 K/9
        +1 Control
        -1 Fielding
        -1 Arm Accuracy
        -1 Reaction
        -1 Durability

[The Battle of Growth and Decline]
        Moses Bartlett, SP, 28, 89/88

        -3 Stamina
        +4 K/9
        +3 BB/9
        -2 HR/9
        -4 P. Clutch
        -3 Control
        -3 Fielding
        -2 Arm Str.
        -2 Arm Acc
        -3 Reaction
        -3 Durability

There's reallocation, the game trying to get him below potential, and his performance perhaps preventing it with growing BB/9 and K/9. He's like a battleground of progression and decline.

In my franchise both Victor Martinez and Miguel Cabrera have been losing speed points at an unbelievable clip. Miggy started at 22 iirc and is now at 17; V-Mart was a 9 and is now a 3. I'm fully expecting them both to have negative speed by season's end.

have you put their training into speed? maybe that will change that?

i dont know, but it might slow the decline down some? i dont know if training even does anything, but just a thought.

In my Cubs franchise, anyone older than 34 has been losing points all season long. I'm now in mid August, and they've all dropped every single month, no matter how well they're playing. However, I haven't seen an single young player (under 25 or so) drop much unless they're doing flat out awful, including those in the minors.

Someone mentioned Speed doesn't increase with training, but maybe it will slow decline or let players "get back to even". Would be an interesting test.

I strongly suspect what the devs did was institute some level of performance based progression and based it on total at bats. Only about 30% of MLB at bats are vs LHP so if they base it on total at bats instead of vs handedness you get radical progression and regression based on a small sample size. Most of the extreme regression has been vs lhp.
