Yes I know, I shouldn't have the sent the guy. Because we all know he stood no chance at being safe. But why does he stand no chance? It wasn't a hard hit roped single to right. If the same ball was hit to left he would of been easily safe. There is clearly something off about the whole right side of the field dynamic with this game. And I'm not even really here to rant. I'm more curious if someone can tell me what it is? Is the field too small overall? Are balls hit too hard all the time? Is this even on the radar as a problem with the game? Am I crazy? I don't know.

What's the deal with Right Field?
I always thought the problem with right field in this game was that it was too small. But then today I actually measured it out and that's not the problem. So what is the problem? Why can a guy with a 75 speed rating easily be thrown out at first on a base hit if the game allowed it (they refuse to let the 1b cover the bag)? Why do they have to add the double pump fake animation on hits to right field when a guy is on first so he doesn't get forced out at 2nd? Those two issues are not really a big deal because they have been masked to not ruin a game. But the masking of those problems is messing up other areas of the game. Obviously I'm writing this now because I just lost a game. That's how things like this work. But I had the tying run on 2nd with 2 outs. Single to RF. Guy on 2b has a 96 speed rating. Guy on 2b is thrown out by about 60 feet.

Re: What's the deal with Right Field?
I also have an issue with some things in right field that are pretty unrealistic. Unless you have someone like Billy Hamilton or Jose Altuve on first, you aren't going to make it to third off a basehit to right. Most players will make it to third unless they are forced to hold up to see if the ball will drop.
Just something I noticed... -

Re: What's the deal with Right Field?
I've had my problems more in left field. My left fielders get stuck in weird animations where they just flat out miss the ball and that can turn an out into a three base error. Plus the throwing from there is really odd. Left fielders will be able to hose people at the plate on base hits but make some very iffy throws to second and third on gappers and soft base hits down the line, when the throw to the plate should be the hardest throw to make from that position.Comment

Re: What's the deal with Right Field?
If you're on default sliders then I believe the fielders runway too fast. I think I've got my fielder speed at 1 in my franchise. I don't remember where my reaction is. Balls can actually get down the line and into the corner. Bloops can land in no man's land. You can get doubles off of balls that don't go to the wall.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: What's the deal with Right Field?
To me its the entire outfield, not just RF.
In real life, a hard liner/grounder in the hole usually still takes at least 3 to reach the outfielders glove. In the game, there are many times where it barely takes a second, so with this of course runners won't be as far up the baseline when the fielder is ready to throw. I feel like its just a combination of balls losing no velocity once they reach the outfield and the fact infielders literally sprint up to a ball and play it perfectly.Comment

I'm just a little bit dissapoint; I thought this might be a Seinfeld/ The Show bit:

And what's with people getting sick?
But enough silliness, back OT, I have to play with Range sliders on 1 & Fielder Speed sliders on 3.T-BONE.

Re: What's the deal with Right Field?
It's not just right field, it's the entire field in general. The issue is just more noticeable in right field because that's where you'd expect a more difficult play at third (and it's the only place where a play at first is remotely possible). I'd say the three biggest issues here are:
Fielders react too quickly and too perfectly, not enough variance in readings. Every ball is perfectly reacted to moments after the crack of the bat. There is no hesitation on a line drive, no confusion on broken bats, hits off the end of the bat, etc... and no freezing on balls hit almost right to the fielder.
Fielders move too fast, not necessarily in run speed (foot speed), but in terms of muscle speed. The fielders have the ability to lift their glove off the ground, reach into it, pick up the ball, and prepare to throw it, all at super-speed.
Runners break too slow, in the few seconds after swinging. It's the same reason it's so easy to tag the batter after a dropped 3rd strike, even though he's (eventually) running at full speed. The swing follow-through animation seems to lag/take too long, resulting in too much of a delay before the batter starts running.
Throws are too quick, and too accurate. Everyone throws bullets, regardless of throwing ability. Everyone throws easily and effortlessly, with little regard for physics, posture, angle, etc...Comment

I've always thought the ball gets to the Outfield way too fast. Either way the current balance is very off imo.PSN: Maserati_Bryan17Comment

Re: What's the deal with Right Field?
No question. Everything is a bullet.
The gameplay has really taken steps backwards to incorporate the fluff. Which is very unfortunate because for years the focus seemed to be on a real experience and now it's going the way of all other video games.Comment
