Harder to check your swing this year?
Seems that way to me. I get a few swings I'm able to pull back, but most times not.Tags: None -

Re: Harder to check your swing this year?
I haven't noticed a difference between this year and year's past. Seems to be the same to me.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Harder to check your swing this year?
I'm actually with you guys on this one, I've tried, maybe 20-30 times, and have not once been able to check my swing, no matter what.(and yes, I have in the past, I know how it's done) Maybe I just don't have anyone with great discipline, idk. Either way it hasn't affected me too much.Comment

I think you may be right. Sometimes, especially on high fastballs, I'll barely nudge the stick and it will cause a full swing.Comment

Re: Harder to check your swing this year?
I think maybe they adjusted the difficulty for lower Discipline players. The high Disc guys still seem to check swings at the same rate as previous years.
Another thing, high fastballs are almost impossible to check swing. I'm not sure why that is but I think the basic rule is, the closer the baseball is to the plate, the more difficult it is to check your swing. High fastballs get on you quicker and so won't let you check. Is that a thing in real baseball? There must be some reasoning for it.
On the opposite side of that, if I swing at a pitch thinking it's a fastball and it ends up being a curve (or other offspeed pitch), my swing checks a LOT. I think that's because I'm swinging early so there's a higher check swing chance. I'm actually not even trying to check in those situations. Most of the time, that's a good thing but occasionally it checks and screws me over.Comment

Re: Harder to check your swing this year?
That might be it. Most of my check swings, or attempts at check swings, come on breaking balls. So hard to lay off those when they look so fat coming in, but at the last second when I know it's headed for the dirt, I try to check.Comment

Re: Harder to check your swing this year?
To me, on default sliders, it seems like I never break the plane. Seems FAR easier to me this year. Could be that im playing on a projector this year which the size makes it easier to judge balls and strikes. Seems easier for me this year for whatever reason.Comment

Re: Harder to check your swing this year?
Easier than last year imo.
Like I said in another thread, I literally check my swings constantly, like 15-20 times per game, sometimes 3 or 4 times in one at-bat. Just gotta be familiar with where the window is.
Also, lots of truth in Mekias' post. Depends on the pitch and depends on the hitter.Comment
