    franchise signing young stars....

So I have Thor and I need to resign him after the first season. Also have a couple other young studs who I would intend to keep barring a hell of a deal or prospect. With that in mind, what should I be doing numbers wise if I plan to keep their morale high?

I ask because I see these young all stars over 85/90 in the first season who are ALWAYS upset about their contract for years to come. Now I don't want to overpay but how do I compensate for a role change down the road in negotiations? Am I better off sticking to 1 year contracts or can I trust the system on a long contract for a stud like thor? Thor's gonna stay my ace for 7 years prolly, but some of these position players are at platoon or everyday but have potential to be stars sooner than later.

Just wondering how you all handle these decisions...

In my franchise, after 2016 I gave Sonny Gray a 5 year, 50 million contract. That covers 3 years of arbitration plus what would have been his first two seasons of free agency. In 2017 his morale is positive
