    RTTS Equipment Boosts: Too Easy?

I know most use equipment boosts, but I'm thinking of starting a RTTS not using any of these boosts.

    Does anyone else do this?

I wish I could use the equipment without getting the boosts.

The little bit I've dabbled with RTTS, I usually use the minor bonuses because it looks odd to see my player "with no equipment" (what, am I borrowing bats and a glove from my teammates? )

I didn't think of it from a difficulty standpoint, just a "why is my bat making me more powerful?" standpoint (I guess it's corked...and what's in that bubble gum that's making me play better...)

When I first started my RTTS players, I only had a few silver pieces of equipment. The bonuses just felt like a cool thing that gave me a mild boost. Now that I have all the equipment with quite a few golds, it's feeling a bit too easy. I'm tempted to only allow myself silver level equipment.

It's kind of like the level you play at, the sliders you use, guess pitch, perks, showtime and purchasing of training points. You can make RTTS incredibly easy if you want to. Or you can try to implement restrictions on these things in order to balance realism with fun. To me it's no fun to hit .450 and blast 100 homers in a year. For some people that's fun and there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone needs to decide what's fun for them.

Couldn't agree more. RTTS is all about making the experience that you enjoy. For example, I like struggling in the minors and battling my way to the top. However, once I am in the big leagues and landed on a team I like I try to blow the roof off of everything. Is it realistic for my 27 year old player to have 40 HRs and 50 stolen bases by the All-Star break? No, but it makes for a good time.

Plus you can make as many players as you want. So try one with the equipment and one without.

Yep, good discussion guys. I've been playing w no equipment boosts and it's been rewarding.

I wish there was a way to get realistic CG and SO stats though.

I do like that there is licensed gear in the game, but not a fan of its implementation with stat boosts. Stack the right gear together, there's a potential +15-20 boost to a stat grouping. A better implementation of the licensed gear would be without the boosts and can be either card-based (like it is now) or tie it into RTTS with some form of sponsorship for our player or as a way to use our career earnings.

As for my player, I'm looking at the gear as more of what would I wear in-game as whatever position I'm playing and then pick something that just looks decent for that player.

I'm getting ready to start up some RTTS players, and in regards to making the game too easy, I was wondering if equipment that your player will not wear while playing still affects their stats. For example, will a starting pitcher still get Durability Boosts from catcher equipment that you have slotted?

Yes, you get stats from all the gear, even the catcher stuff.

They need to have an option to toggle it if off IMO. Not a fan I flow the stat boost for these equipment and some of them are really hard to acquire, still want my evosheild elbow guard.
