1. Use sliders to decrease CPU strike percentage, especially if the cause is "CPU throws tons of strikes". But make an honest assessment - are you recognizing balls and strikes well enough to earn the walks?
2. Switch to zone hitting if on directional. Swing only when it's in the pci. As this is smaller than the strike zone you will walk more (and strike out more looking). This approach to hitting is explained elsewhere.
3. Take more pitches. The first 3-4 of most at bats (randomly smatter in an aggressive approach). Take on 3-2 when borderline.
I used to get walk numbers like you and it irritated me. Now I have 3 guys on pace for 80-100 walks on the season and a number who will get 45-60. I'm near 10 percent or so overall. This has made the game more enjoyable for me and helped my offense be less feast or famine.
The above might work for you.Comment

Re: Too many HRs compared to RBI again this year...THOUGHTS??
Thanks for the tips (they're good ones) but believe me I'm on top of all that stuff. I just mean to stress that it's not like I only have 30 or 40 or even 50 walks in 91 games or something, I have a hundred and friggin 91 - I walk all the damn time - yet it's still nowhere near on pace with the rest of the league. Kinda off-topic anyway, just putting my proverbial two cents out there: walks still need to be more frequent/easy imo, and that this would address low-ish RBI numbers.
Also, sometimes I am so late I swing after the ball has already been caught by the catcher. I think the developers could probably stand to shave a few milliseconds off the window in which you can swing on the late side to reduce swinging strikes slightly.Comment

This has a lot to do with walks so reducing CPU strike freq to 2 and CPU control to 2 will make it a ton easier to walk. This improves the balance.Comment

Re: Too many HRs compared to RBI again this year...THOUGHTS??
I've made a couple of subtle changes. I've decreased contact because I had too high an average and not enough strikeouts, but to increase doubles and triples I've slowed fielder running speed by about 2 or 3 clicks.
It seems to do the trick because now more balls will reach the wall both down the line and in the gaps.
It seems like I have too many HRs but I am the Rockies and nobody hit more than 41 HR which was CarGo. Arenado had 23, Story 15, Raburn 23, Paulsen 28 so it wasn't too bad. RBIs also turned out to be fairly accurate

One thing I've tried in my second season is to change guess pitch to "no feedback".
Any of the other settings made it so it was a pretty easy HR if you guessed right, whereas with no feedback you still get a nice bonus for hitting but it reduces those "cheap HR".Comment
