Road to show advice new to game

I'm a baseball fan, but I'm a father of 5 and my time is limited I try and play shooters along with madden and NBA 2k. I have always wanted try road to the show but I have a few questions?

How good is the part of the game worth the price alone of buying?

I haven't played how much difficulty am I going to have?

Is road to the show dynamic in story mode and how it works I know little to nothing about it but I'm a member here since 05 before that madden forums any different advice would be great

I love the Show but I couldn't recommend it on RTTS alone. For me the meat & potatos will always be franchise & season. But if money's not an object, RTTS would fit in nice if you have little time to spare, as games take mere minutes. As for being a Story Mode type, it doesn't compare to NBA2K. Probably the best thing to do is pick up Show 14 on the cheap, then go from there.

Nope its just a career mode, I personally think it is nearly as good as 2k's but its completely different in the sense that its just a career mode. You control the path of your career but there is no storyline.

I know you get drafted work your way up beyond that was exciting because if you only getting your at bats and fielding your only helping so much. That's all you do than?

Yes. Thats it. Its a realistic career simulation game mode. Its not a story mode its a career mode. Its not for everyone.

I've played MLB The Show since 2009 and 90% of that has been spent in RTTS mode. It's addicting to me. I'm a Mariners fan so I usually pick a position where the Mariners are weak and create my RTTS guy to fill that void (you can choose one team and avoid the draft if you want).

The only real story part is at the beginning where you have the scouting day and the exhibitions with other prospects. Once you get on your team, there's not much in the way of story. It's about working your way up through the minors, getting better and helping your team.

The major addiction for me is the training points and spending those on improving my player. It feels a bit like an RPG in that way. The fact that every game I play makes me better serves as an impetus to keep me going. I'll say to myself, "Just one more game and I can gain another point of Power!"

Another good thing is that I don't have to pitch. When playing an RTTS pitcher or franchise, the pitching aspect gets boring for me after a while. As an RTTS position player, I just hit and field. I love the challenge of hitting and fielding can be fun as well.

Another addiction for me is to improve my stats, win awards, and break records. I'm always checking the stat page to see how I'm doing and comparing that to the league leaders. I love getting career highs and leading the league in certain categories. In franchise, it takes a long, long time to play 162 games. In RTTS it goes by fairly quick. Now that you can play a series with no extra load times, it's even quicker than previous years.

I also enjoy the challenge of being a part of a championship team. My Mariners just won the World Series for the 2nd straight year. Obviously, as I'm just controlling one person on a 25-man roster I can only impact games so much. For that reason it can be equal parts uplifting and frustrating depending on how the rest of the team is playing. In order to help this along, I cheat a bit during the offseason. I save my game after the world series and simulate the offseason many times so I can make sure my team has the best chance of competing the following season. Getting Edwin Encarnacion as a free agent in 2017 put us on this World Series run. Encarnacion just retired after 2018 (which really irritated me) but I managed to snag Bryce Harper for 2019 (10 year, 300 million contract). Had to give up some good players to afford his salary but it pays to have great hitters in this game and Harper is still young enough that it won't be an albatross like Cano's contract is starting to be.

Bottom line, RTTS mode can be really fun. Whenever I try to play other modes, I always get the urge to go back to RTTS.

Mekias pretty much touched on everything I love about RttS my only complaint is how they did the outfield camera this year. Other than that I am still trying to chase that gold glove which always eludes me haha.

RTTS was the main reason I got The Show the two previous years. I just enjoyed playing one guy and not having to worry about everything else.

I do wish it had some type of storyline like NBA2K, but as Mekias said, its fun to be a cog in a winning team and to see how you compare to the other greats in the league.

I actually have three RTTS players going at the moment. 2B, SP and CP. Play the 2B and CP the most. Games go quick. Especially for a CP as you are only pitching (normally) one inning and depending on how good the team is not every day.

Diamond Dynasty is also good for short of time quick games if you play Conquest mode as they are only 3 inning games.
