    The Knuckleball

So, maybe there’s something about this, but I couldn’t find it.

Has anyone else noticed that the knuckleball is completely no fun to throw? The point you’re picking when you throw is the point at which the ball goes. I can’t remember if the other games have been like this, buy I’m sitting here throwing them with Steven wright, and they’re not breaking at all from my chosen point. It should be random and you should not see an indicator showing the movement to you. He has no more idea where that ball is going to end up than the batter.

Am I off? I feel like what I’m saying is true here, because I’m seeing it with my own eyes.

You don’t care where I sent this from.

    Re: The Knuckleball

I've had Dickey on one franchise and a fictional that throws the old Hough/Candiotti/Wakefield style knuckleballs on my carryover.

I don't see any movement indicator when I choose the knuckler. I see a lot of weird break, though a lot of times the ball does end up near the ball marker if the pitcher has solid control ratings.

If you're playing Pulse, you can intentionally throw when the pulse circle is huge. Pitches start anywhere inside the pulse circle and then break where ever. So for knucklers you get a random starting point and the random break on the ball.

Aim down the middle and throw with as large a circle as you can muster.

For other interfaces, you could "intentionally screw up" maybe? Or perhaps lower control rating on the pitch. Especially for Classic.

Yea.....Had huge plans to make a RTTS Knuckleballer......I knew by the end of the prospect thing that it was gonna be pretty boring.

        Re: The Knuckleball

Last time I tried a knuckleballer RTTS, I couldn't even throw strikes. I made the movement too high and he had such a slow one (I think velocity in MLB15 for knuckleballs works different than now, low = low MPH instead of higher MPH like now) that I think that contributed to his inability to throw strikes.

Doing location training with a knuckleball was just wrong. I was like "how am I supposed to hit a spot with a knuckleball????"

I think low control is the key to making it interesting. Like 20-30 low. Or Marmol low.

But that’s not break. Low control won’t fool hitters.

I play with analog (because MLB 2k had the best and most fun pitching controls ever) and so I can see pretty much where the ball will end up. It hits it every time. So even with low control, you aren’t getting that unpredictable quality.

Ok so just when you use the Knuckler switch your control scheme to classic. I know it is a little boring but the thing will dance all over the place then. and lower the hu pitch control for just that game

Low control/missed locations can fool hitters. Hitters are fooled more on a basis of Movement rating, changing speeds (timing disruption, and, yes, knuckleballers can do that), and K/9 rating and of course their Vision and Contact ratings.

Control just impacts if you hit the spot you're aiming at. I use a low control pitcher on classic/pulse and it's aim down the middle because it won't end up there. Not sure WHERE it will end up, but it won't be middle.

I've used guys with low BB/9 and control, they can still get batters fooled if the stuff (read: their other ratings) are good. Just don't try to pinpoint location.

I agree with the Classic suggestion (what I usually play, though this year I'm playing Pulse, which is basically the same idea with one user input). You could also Pulse and intentionally throw when the pulse circle is big. Not sure what you can do with Analog.

High movement with middling-to-low control is unpredictable and the movement rating and a decent K/9 will induce swings and misses and generally weaker contact, especially with decent H/9.
