Finding where you need to be once will carry for all forward future franchises. What better place to do that than in a franchise you ponder throwing away anyway?

So, at least for me, it's not a "carry on and try to come back from 9-40 with the settings that made you 9-40 in the first place", but, "use it as a throwaway to test things, then when satisfied, create your new franchise where you're at your level."

To me, that's the most practical and orderly thing to do to try to prevent the situation from recurring.
If you read my 1st post in this thread, you will notice I suggested the same thing as you in ever so slightly different language. The key is figuring out a setting that works for this guy so he has fun (not misery) playing the game. Whether using the existing franchise to tinker or scrapping it and starting fresh (it would be easier to track stats in a fresh franchise without the legacy of the old stats interfering, imo), it's all basically the same. Others seem like they're saying he should just buck up and keep grinding away and things will magically be different somehow without changing a thing.

I played the first 20 games on Legend and went 2-18 while going 7-22 on Hall of Fame difficulty since. I'm sick of the losing. Mostly because of the fashion in which I've lost so much lately. Lost by 1 run often because the cpu seems to have a secret comeback attribute. I mean seriously, the last couple of games they just come back and duplicate or 1 up anything I do on offensive the very next inning. I'm trying to fight through it and just take the losing season as time to improve but I play every game, every pitch. Hard to imagine going through 113 more games of this knowing we probably have no chance at a playoff run this early.

I've had this issue in past years, but not this one. My advice is start a new franchise using a much lower difficulty setting and sliders. I used to always play this game on HoF and would suffer similar results and CPU comebacks. This year, I am on All Star. I used TNK & Psychobulk's sliders as a base and then spent the first three or so weeks of the season adjusting them accordingly. If things were unrealistic, I would adjust the sliders. For example, I was barely getting homeruns, so I raised the power until I got realistic results. I was striking out too much, so I raised the contact and solid hits until I got realistic results. All I can say is, I haven't had this much fun playing franchise until now. Every game is completely unique and unpredictable, and the game plays out as realistically as possible. I am stuck at 20-19, but that is in large part due to my losing a ton of games at the beginning of the season before adjusting the sliders. I am hoping I'll gain ground, but I'm not far back enough (like you) where it's pointless to continue. Good luck. Don't give up. Just realize you're on way too hard a setting.

Whatever's going on, this ain't it.

Even If you finish the year like 41-121, just bump the difficulty level down or switch to dynamic, let it ride & play it out.
When you finally turn it around (& you will) it will be that much more rewarding.

Got it. I must have misread/missed that portion. Gomen-ne!

And I think I didn't think about the "fresh stats" aspect since I track my slider changes by hand on a spreadsheet (thanks nomo for the base spreadsheet and making it public).

Re: Trying not to rage quit my franchise...

Thank you everyone for all the responses, discussions, and encouragement. And with it, I have decided to push on through the season. I think I have found the perfect sliders for me to have the most realistic games possible. We'll see. Maybe I'll make a historic comeback as someone suggested. If not, we retool for a better season next year. Thanx again people.
