Freaking Astros!!!!
I am about a quarter of the way through my season with the Red Sox and have now come into a home series with the Astros. I am using the OSFM 1.0 rosters with a couple minor tweaks (added Vlad Jr. to the Jays, made the trades the Sox have in real life) and have come to the conclusion that I would likely go 0-162 if I played the Astros every game. They are unbelievable in this game. Played game one and lost 4-2 against Keuchel, no big deal he is a 90 and Steven Wright pitches to contact against their 6 guys with 80-95 speed. Next game was Pomeranz vs. someone I do not remember from their rotation. 1st inning I struck out the side, 2nd inning 2 more K's for 5 in a row to start the game then allowed a GB out to 2nd. 3rd inning starts with yet another K so I figure I am going strong. Then everything went to hell. Marwin Gonzalez got a single that turned into a double because he has 90 speed. Next up was Marisnick who singles him home. Then Altuve who doubled on what should have been a single and Marisnick scored. Next I walked CarGo, Correa doubled, Rasmus homered. Took out Pomeranz. In comes Matt Barnes who so far is 1-0 with a 2.09 ERA in 16 innings of work. He is my most reliable reliever. First pitch HR to Springer. Next pitch, which was a good FB right on the bottom right corner was CRUSHED to deep center. Down 8-0 before I could even blink. Ended up losing 14-1 in what I would call a disaster. Correa is great but he is way too patient in the game. I walked him 2 times in game one and 3 in game two and I rarely walk anyone. Altuve went 10-11 in two games against me. I know he leads the AL in hitting but that is ridiculous. 5-5 in game 1 and 5-6 in game 2. They have 4 guys with 90 speed and 2 with 80 and the rest of their lineup has 50+ except their Catcher who had like 17 I think. Their pitching is pretty good, not the best but not bad and I have always had trouble against Neshek and his windup. Needless to say they are my nemesis. If I make it to the playoffs and have to face them, they're currently in 1st in the West by 6 games at 24-12, I will have a tough time even if I am on my A game. They are just that hard for me. The lack of urgency in the fielding isn't helping anything either with their speed. Anyone else get wrecked by the 'Stros or another team in the way I have? (By the way I lost game 3 7-6 in a nail biter but couldn't complete the come back. Altuve went 3-4 with a walk and two 2B's)Tags: None -

Re: Freaking Astros!!!!
I hear ya. I remember when I played against them earlier in the season with my White Sox franchise, I gave up 6 homeruns to Evan Gattis in a 3 game series. He was batting around .180 going into the series with only 3 homeruns on the year, but somehow he was capable of just crushing every pitch I threw to him. -

I didn't have to face Gattis, but the rest of the team was formidable enough. I finally got one from them though. Buckholtz went 6 strong with 4 K's, 1 ER on 3 Hits and 1 BB for the game, and the run was a HR in the 1st inning, for his 2nd straight great performance. Nobody was putting good swings on the ball on either side, but Bogaerts had a sac fly in the first inning and drove in Betts again later in the game. I came out on top 2-1. My Bullpen, which has been suspect lately, went 3 innings allowing 3 hits and a walk. Kimbrel held down for the save, his 15th of the year in 19 wins. Koji has been my most consistent non closer so far. 12 appearances, 1.35 ERA and he has 17 K's in 13.1 innings. Not bad for someone who throws 88. Matt Barnes has also been a pleasant surprise, 20 innings in 14 appearances with a 2.70 ERA. Love this game, just not the 'Stros.Comment
