Feel like I'm being forced to bunt or Hit and Run

The amount of double plays that I hit into is absurd. I can't be alone here. It's so bad that I am finding myself laying down bunts in ridiculous situations without a second thought. Pitcher on deck and I'm still laying down bunts. The heart of the order is up and I am hit and running like a madman.

Aim low and inside with your PCI. As you know, the pitcher strategy is to get you to ground into a DP. So play to the strategy and either get a singe or pop fly out.

I was thinking that I was hitting into more than average amount of DP's. I looked at the M's stats for HIDP and my stats were right in line with the real life team.

I try to influence fly ball and be a little late on the pitch.

That seems to get me more fly balls, but hardly a certainty.

For whatever reason, I get a ton of flyballs (just in general) so that's one advantage - fewer DPs.

No idea why my hitters hit so many flies, though. Most of the time, I can't stand it when someone like Buxton hits a fly ball.

I don't bunt out of the ordinary, but I'll hit and run a lot, and the lead runner in a 1st+2nd situation has good speed, I'll double steal.

Seems like swinging at anything middle-down in the zone will give me a double play grounder, and anything middle-up gives me a pop up.

It doesn't matter what you do, if the computer wants you out, you are out.

90% of the outs I make are rockets right at someone. Or bloopers that should fall but don't because the outfield plays ridiculously shallow.

I agree with the TC though, it seems like if you have runners on, especially RISP, you are gonna get out. I have no idea how many double digit hit, 2 run games I've had that I've lost because the CPU has gotten 3 base runners all game but they've all managed to score.

Re: Feel like I'm being forced to bunt or Hit and Run

I'm actually finished my first season in the bottom half of the league of DP's hit into. I don't remember the exact number that I hit into but my ranking was in the 20's.

I do my best to stay away from low pitches in these situations and look for something up in the zone that I can drive. When its appropriate I'll use the hit and run, but I rarely did my first year due to not having great speed on the base paths and the fear of strike'em out throw'em out prevented me from doing hit and runs.

I'm not sure what other advice to offer up other than don't swing at low pitches.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Well if you guys are having success staying out of the DP then it makes me feel much better about the game, that it can be overcome. I had almost surrendered to the algorithms, but I'll just keep grinding away at it and try to get better.

I actually hit into more pop ups...

I tend to sit on the low pitch in a DP situation.

So after complaining yesterday, I had a 16 hit 12 run game last night. Maybe it was just a slump on my part.

I think you'll see games in both directions as well as games where you score 7 runs on 6 hits or something.

Sometimes I hold the CPU to the kinds of games you mentioned - 1 or 2 runs on a ton of runners.

It happens. Just depends on the sequencing (which is typically random) and how many walks, GIDP, HBP, ROE, and doubles/triples/HR you end up getting/allowing (which then goes back to sequencing and how they fall out).
