Re: What is the point of rainy games
This is one of the reasons I roll my 20-sided die before games.
1-4 and 11-14: Clear skies.
5-7 and 15-17: Partly cloudy.
8-9 and 18-19: Overcast.
10 and 20: Rain.
And even then, there are exceptions. Whenever I play in Arizona, I ALWAYS ignore the weather and close the roof. Place be hot, man!Last edited by bronxbombers21325; 03-20-2022, 06:51 AM.Comment

Re: What is the point of rainy games
It would be better if games could also be postponed by rain resulting in later season doubleheaders.

Re: What is the point of rainy games
I don't understand the reason it's in the game. I understand that it rains during games, but if they can't have rainiouts or delays in game there is no point of it being in game. If it would rain for a inning or two then stop and maybe start back up toward end of game it would be realsitic, otherwise there is no way a mlb game would be played in nine straight innings of rain. I know I can change it but it's pointless.Comment

Re: What is the point of rainy games
I usually roll with whatever weather the AI picks. If I’m playing in Houston, Arlington, Arizona etc. I close the roof if it’s between May 15th and September 15th. Anything before or after that I let the AI select u less it’s overcast, and then I close it. Somewhere like Milwaukee or Toronto I let the AI pick regardless of the time of year unless, again it’s overcast. For the playoffs roofs are always closed.

Re: What is the point of rainy games
The roof in Toronto is normally always closed on its own in April if I remember right. I use the Yanks so I don’t play a lot in Milwaukee, so I’m not sure about that one.Comment

Re: What is the point of rainy games
Same, typically closed for Milwaukee because April is more Winter than Spring until late in the month. This year has been very mild for March though.Comment

Re: What is the point of rainy games
But it does matter because many times it makes you chose to switch pitchers after delays so there is a strategy, just saying as I think it's a nice touch from someone who enjoys intangibles like weather in games .Finally Roster share in NHL 22 ! Dreams do come true ! To Garryowen and Glory boys !Comment

Re: What is the point of rainy games
It's better to have it than not have it basically for the same reason we wanted night games to be added to custom ballparks. Both things occur IRL and that's what we want. I do understand the desire for it to have an affect on the game as well."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Re: What is the point of rainy games
If the game had a real dynamic lighting and weather system, said dynamic changes would in fact be “the point.” See how incredible this kind of stuff is in GT7 (or Project Cars for that matter), it changes the entire aesthetic & atmosphere when done right. (Honestly, watching the lighting and weather changes in GT7 is half the fun in some of these longer races.)
A game that starts sunny but then rain clouds move in, it gets dark and grey, youre not sure if it’ll rain or not, but then yes it does, and hard, there’s a delay and when the game resumes the field is wet and the sun is out and the grass glistens with sparkles of ray-traced sun for a while before drying.
That would be cash af.
Unfortunately the best thing this game does is give us the different lighting for the different times of year (which is AWESOME), but it really doesn’t go any further than that yet.
Rain games haven’t been looked at in ages, it’s been the same too-dark-with-constant-thunder aesthetic for like 15 years.Last edited by Detroit Tigers; 03-22-2022, 04:51 PM.Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment
