Cover idea for 17

well i know he wasn't a hall of fame player or whatever but i think it would be cool if we could honor the passing of Jose Fernandez with a cover tribute...

I'd be all for that. There's no consolation for this loss, but as the only console baseball game, a tribute cover could say something special to his family about his place in the history of the game, in its current moment, and in the hearts of sports gamers.

I personally do not see it happening.

If they were to put him on the cover, I have a feeling that some people would view it as a marketing ploy and give them a fair amount of hate. Not only because of that, but I have a feeling that there is a lot more to getting someone on a cover than we think.

Would be a good gesture, just don't think it'll happen.

I know it's poorly made, and has 16(because of Fernandez) but it's the best I can do(which isn't that good) but I like the concept.

If they were to put him on the cover, I have a feeling that some people would view it as a marketing ploy and give them a fair amount of hate. Not only because of that, but I have a feeling that there is a lot more to getting someone on a cover than we think.

But if you were to donate some of the proceeds (or make a special limited edition cover for him to be donated to the charity of his/his family choice) I think it would be a good thing

I do agree with this and would like to also add out of respect to the family, some type of rights or approval I doubt they could get the approval to use him on the cover. The family might not want something like that to happen.

It doesn't look like it will happen but given what happened last night, I gotta believe SCEA will do something. That was one of the best things I've seen in sports in a very long time.

Keep in mind this would be the very first time SCEA put a pitcher on the cover unless I am mistaken it has always been a batter.

I wouldn't think of it as a marketing ploy but rather a tribute to a tremendously gifted pitcher. I think he would have garnered consideration regardless of his death with his play this year.

That said, who knows how the logistics would work. How would they get approval? Who would get the money as compensation? What type of trailer or tribute could they do that's worthy enough? I'm seeing more risk than reward but I would be appreciative if they did it, knowing this dev team really cares about baseball.

I don't see it happening, they didn't do it for Oscar Tavares a couple years ago either. A little off topic but I can't believe that the game last night was not sold out or at least had a near capacity crowd.
