    Walk off hit...fielders choice?

I've had two walk off singles ruled a fielders choice. One time the bases were loaded in a tie game, bottom 9th, I hit a single up the middle, two runs scored and my single was ruled a fielders choice (final score was 5-3 when it should have been 4-3).

Second time there was a runner on 3rd with 2 outs and I hit a single up the middle. It was ruled a fielders choice again, although I noticed that it wasn't recorded as an AB this time.

I've read about this happening before, as far back as '14. Why hasn't it been fixed?

    Yeah, the scoring can be...funky.

Sometimes what looks like an error is ruled a hit (probably because the game didn't "roll an error" so it's not an error...just a misplay that became a hit...that's a thing but sometimes it doesn't look right), sometimes SH don't get recorded as such (they are considered regular groundouts even if the batter clearly squared early and advanced all runners except himself safely).

I'm guessing the scoring logic either isn't a priority or is hard to root out the cause (because I don't think I've seen a H be ruled a FC in any other situation) or the cause is tied to something else they are doing at the end of the game that would have to be adjusted - just a guess.

I've always wondered why they couldn't put an option in to change the scorers decision on plays. Surely it wouldn't be the computing nightmare that having say, rain delays, would bring?

Might be a case where no one has even thought about it. Even OOTP doesn't allow it.

It might be somewhat complex. Say we change the OP's walk-off FC into a walk-off RBI single.

The game would have to add a RBI to the batter (assuming it's still stored - the game has to remember who the batter was). Add a single to the batter (same thing), and then recalculate the batter's stats (BA, OBP, SLG, WAR, etc). Adjust the box score output and the RHE line. And this is about the simplest case.

If it was an error - you'd have to subtract one error from the fielder (keeping in mind the game has to remember who all these players were), add the RBI(s) to the batter, add the hit type to the batter, add ER to the pitcher, calculate new stats for all involved, change the box score, and maybe even throw in some commentary about how the scorer changed the ruling, since they do sometimes talk about that in a real broadcast - at least a mention of it.

I don't think it would necessarily be difficult, per se, but it might be a lot of checking, testing scenarios, if they do new commentary, getting that in and when to trigger it - and getting the game to remember who the players were (batter, fielder(s), previous pitcher(s), etc.)
