Hopefully that means a better game.

Re: MLB The Show 17 PlayStation 4 Only (No PlayStation 3 Version)
I don't think the thread is going to get comical. This needed to happen. And this is the best time to do it. Sony is no longer selling PS3's like they care about it. They don't really care at this point. Their fundamental business model is now almost totally PS4, Pro, and VR.

Honestly, I don't know how many people were devoted to the PS3 version on the dev team, but you would have to think patching, deadlines, PS3 only art and optimization, et cetera has to be a big time consumer even if it was only a couple people involved.
Nevermind the aspects of the engine that didn't update well because of the original PS3 code.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 PlayStation 4 Only (No PlayStation 3 Version)
Do you guys think if the PS4 Pro did not exist they would have still dropped the PS3 version? Also besides possible development time taken away from the PS4 version because of the PS3 version is there any other reason why the PS3 version really was hurting the PS4 version?
Like for example is the reason why the player models have not been greatly improved on the PS4 version because they had to use the same player models from the PS3 version?Comment

In my personal opinion, I don't think the development of the PS3 version was really hurting the development of the PS4 version.
I think the reason there hasn't been new player models is that changing the player models would mean that other things have to be re-done, most notably, all the animations in the game. And I don't think that is a small undertaking to re-do all the animations in the game.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

To all those saying they still have to develop two versions: Isn't the PS4 and PS4 Pro software exactly the same? My understanding is that it's basically a single piece of software that is optimized for one console (Pro).
I mean, if every developer had to produce two versions of every PS4 game from here on out, seems like things would get ugly for Sony really quick.www.heyimbill.com | sports poster art and other cool stuffComment

I think we should stop assuming PS3 being dropped means PS4 Pro will be utilized until we actually hear confirmation that it is happening. Kind of stuff that leads to the normal Show bickering every year. Just my two cents.

Re: MLB The Show 17 PlayStation 4 Only (No PlayStation 3 Version)
PS4 Pro support is mandatory for all ps4 games released after October. SDS must support it. It's up to them how they use the extra 2.3x GPU power.
To expand on this, in order for a game to be approved by Sony, the PS4 Pro version must look or run objectively better than the PS4 version. I believe developers will accomplish this with a resolution boost. Some developers, like the Tomb Raider people, will offer modes such as 1080p/60 fps and "4k"/30 fps (It's not really 4K, but an advanced upscaling technique that gets it close).
Based on the interviews with Mark Cerny, the hardware designer for Sony, developers probably won't alter base assets between the PS4 and PS4 Pro versions. The upgrades will be resolution, performance and/or graphical effects (such as better depth of field, particles, etc.).Last edited by Spokker; 10-28-2016, 11:29 AM.Comment

Wishful thinking I'm sure.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment
