    End of Year Player Awards

Hey guys I had a question that I don't think I've seen asked or discussed here. Can rookie players with portraits (i.e. Corey Seager) win the Rookie of the Year award or any award for that matter? Corey Seager is having a pretty good year but he's not in the Top 3 of Rookie of the Year voting in my franchise. I was just curious if anybody knew the answer to this question, thanks in advance!

I am not aware of any issue that would prevent him from winning Rookie of the Year or any other award.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Yes Corey Seager is eligible for the ROY in 2016, he does have a Portrait, as does Steven Matz with the Mets. He is also eligible for 2016 ROY and has a Portrait.

However, Michael Conforto does not have a Portrait and is not eligible for 2016 ROY.

So the portrait has no determination on whether a player is ROY eligible or not

It's the at bats or games that the player has played in the prior year that determine's his rookie eligibility for the season. For instance Dansby Swanson for the Braves will be eligible for R.O.Y in 2017 because they kept his at bats and games to the minimum.

Rookie eligibility is less than 130 at bats and less than 45 days on the active roster prior to the September roster expansion.

Conforto had 174 ABs and 0.073 service time so his rookie season was 2015.
Seager had 98 ABs and 0.032 service time so he was/is a rookie in 2016.
Swanson had 129 ABs and 0.047 service time (but a lot of that was during Sept. expansion) so he'll be rookie eligible next season.
BFR's future is still TBD, stay tuned for updates
