Re: MLB The Show 17 Trailer Rewind

I wonder, since this series could be traced back to the late 90s, what kind of licensing do they have to all the stadiums that were in the game back then? What allows them to keep Shea, the Metrodome, and others in the game every year? Is it just because they were never removed from one version or another in the first place?

That's just wishful thinking, of course; but it would be so cool.

The Show began in 2006. I "think" that is all they are missing with maybe the exception of some re-configurations like in Toronto and KC changing their turf.

No big surprise, but Ramone did confirm that Turner Field would be a classic stadium on Twitter.

Well, I don't know if they'll jump into new player models for us this year, but one of the graphical upgrades is definitely the animated uniform cloth. Here's to hoping some of the other features may be brand new:

                    - Dynamic weather
                    - Player models
                    - Nighttime lighting system / day cycle (24-hour clock?)
                    - Broadcast fielding camera
                    - Custom stadium grass patterns
                    - Pro support for 4K / 60 FPS

Stuff like that. Trying to think what else would be considered "back of the box" (though a few on that list wouldn't even make that cut, so who knows).

•Spin of the ball off of the bat has been greatly improved with new hit types like curving hits down the line
I really am excited to see more examples of this.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                        To clarify the quoted portion

The way it worked before, we were basically modelling the spin that would occur if the ball had hit a wall instead of a bat. Given the direction of the hit and the pitch, the cross product became the axis of rotation. This is ok, but misses a huge set of hit types, like curving hits down the line, ........., ....................... there's more to this but can't spill the beans just yet. Wouldn't be a tease if you gave out all the info right? And I had to be very brief in the rewind for flow and consistency purposes. But just know there's a lot more to this.

Thank you sweet baby Jeebus and the baseball Gods above for getting Lindor's face right!!! Haha

Question about curving balls, for Ramone. Do the balls curve on line drives in the air down the lines?

We'll explain it all in a Twitch livestream at some point. But that's all the info we are releasing now.

                                Music to my ears!

Hopefully the ball will now go all the way to the outfield wall on hard hits down the line and also fixes all those little dribblers in front of home plate. And those tiny popups at home plate where the catcher can so quickly get up and makes the catch. And more choppers and bloop hits as well.
