Outdated First & Last Name Audio?

Something I've noticed throughout the years that hasn't ever been enough of an issue for me to include in a wish list is the fact that players' first & last names don't get added to the database once their name is in the game.

Just a couple examples of last names:
    -Syndergaard
    -d'Arnaud
    -deGrom
    -Solarte
    -Severino
    -Puig

Just to name a few... Is this just an oversight due to the fact that so much effort gets put into the other parts of the game that - for lack of a better word - matter? I only ask because sometimes when you do year-to-year saves, the player data doesn't get transferred over and you end up with someone like Luis Severino stuck with the name Luis "Serrano" or Noah Syndergaard with just no audio data.

I have noticed this also, for a couple years some players with PA announcer and Matty V. saying their names, there is no audio name in their edit/create player name database.

But at least we still get names such as Grindstaff, Yellowhorse, etc.

Actually, I was able to create such gems such as "The Dude" Lebowski and Smokey Carp. Kind of fun at least even if their audio database needs refreshing.

Compared to other sport titles, I think their audio name are pretty deep. Also, there was a thread on their site this past season for people to give some names for audio to them. So, I'm thinking there will be some updates to that list for sure.

Yep, had my veryuncommon last name added to the database quite a few years back. The day I got the Show that year, I have never been happier than seeing "Wasiukow" in the database and with the added bonus of Matt V. and the stadium announcer pronouncing it correctly (which shows they do pay attention as I had sounded it out in the thread for them).

The Show always goes above and beyond and I think people forget that. There is always so much negativity around here for what isn't done, I think that we kind of gloss over what is done by this studio when compared to others.

I agree and have been commenting for last few years that this need to be updated. Especially when we are still missing last names like
          D'Arnaud
          Reddick
          Rondon and many others

Still deepest in any game though

Mine got in for 15, and it's awesome!
1458, not counting playoffs, that's the number of games in a row I haven't missed! Go Yanks!

Don't know if this is where I should address this, but can we get created player's potential last names lengthened? The name Michalczewski doesn't fit and he's a prospect for the White Sox. Or can they just make some fake player in the default roster with that name so we can just edit him to be Trey?

No negativity, I was just wondering if it gets overlooked due to the fact that it doesn't really have much of an actual impact on the game.

Re: Outdated First & Last Name Audio?

I think it has something to do with the fact that real players don't have "first" and "last" names.

When someone like Yasiel Puig goes to bat, his entire name is one recording.
to add Yasiel (first name) and Puig (last name) in the create a player database would actually add 2 recordings....separate from the full name recording for the "real player" who is already in the game.

                    1. Yasiel Puig
                    2. Yasiel
                    3. Puig

Now I still agree they should be added if they have the time/space to do so.
However I have a bigger problem with prospect names not being included.

I think they should make sure that all Top 100 Prospects for that particular year have their first and last name in the game. For the most part out of 100 players, I would think 65-80 players will have their names, but every now and then a player with an uncommon name (or sometimes even common) does not have their name.

I think making sure the Top 100 prospect names are added each year is important, since those are the players most likely to get called up during the year.

They should also add the top players from Japanese and Korean leagues as well to be safe....
Masahiro Tanaka, Yu Darvish, and others were rumored to be MLB-bound long before their debuts...

So im playing with my White Sox franchise, and Josh Bell comes up to bat and they dont say his name? Extremely common names and they dont say it. Granted i could possibly go in and change that myself but i shouldnt have too
Oakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit Tigers
Pittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay Packers

In the edit player/Create player screen the first and last name are separate (as mentioned above).

There is nothing stopping them from adding let's say Clint Frazier's name to the list.

Clint is a common first name
Frazier is a common last name
Both can be combined with other first/last names.

Nothing preventing them from doing that.

That is absolutely true. I would be all for that. I just meant officially adding them as players on the roster before they debut in the MLB.
