I may be one of the few on OS that doesn't care about PS4 pro and the improvements it brings. That's probably because I'm a PC gamer at heart, who bought a PS4 because I love PlayStation exclusives (like The Show). There is no way I'm going to spend money to upgrade my ps4 (and tv... you can take my plasma from my cold dead fingers) when that money could be used to upgrade my computer.

So yeah, reinforcing an earlier point, what constitutes a major update is dependent on the fan. I felt both 15 and 16 were fantastic updates. I'm a little worried 17 won't be as impressive (to me) but the devs have proved me wrong before. Let's just say I'm interested, but yet to be excited.

Like others I try to keep my expectations in check. I actually find it hard to believe that we will get more updates than last year. The inclusion of two new, solid gameplay modes (Conquest and Battle Royale) and the much needed improvement in RTTS that allows you to play a series before forcing you back to the main menu.


I hope I am wrong for the sake of the franchise guys but I again could see them focusing the most Dev time to the modes that get the most people playing them. I think that is RTTS and Diamond Dynasty. They may not be the most popular among the forum here but definitely are the favorites for the average player.


And of course I see them spending time trying to make the modes that require the player cards as desirable to play as possible to keep that revenue stream going.

Same here. If my current PS4 breaks then I will most likely spring for a PS4 Pro but I will not upgrade just because it is supposed to be better.

I just dropped $260 on a new 1060 GTX myself. Now Battlefield 1 is soo, sooo pretty.

I'm thinking DD won't see so many updates in The Show 17, primarily just because it saw SO much new content and so many new features last year. I played Conquest mode some, and it was indeed fun to collect cards and try to achieve goals and such. But even then, it probably only took up 5-10% of my total hours playing MLB 16.

there is only 2 gameplay issues i want improved..... bullpen and team strategy including shifts for not just pull hitters. the play around first base is probably the thing that drives me crazy more than anything. agon is i master of the different flips to first base there could be so much variety and individuallity with that play. im tired of my 1st baseman with a speed of 7 able to go past halfway to 2nd base and then magically zip to 1st base without the pitcher even bothering to cover 1st. screws up all the assist stats for the game. fix these things and add to franchise and ill do flips!!!!!!!

Well we haven't "officially" announced the other 2, however they are clearly visible in the background if you look. We've been teasing and leaving hints of things for over a year now just carrying on the trend of leaving little nuggets of info in our content.

What he meant is revealed at 4:08 of the same video although in addition to the "hidden" stadium Metrodome all 4 are revealed on the tv screen behind him which is the selection screen for classic stadiums.

Gotcha. I scanned the video back in December. I just thought he meant "additional two" beyond what we already knew.

The Metrodome, Sun Life and others have been apart of the Show franchise for years. I thought he meant expanded on that. I was reading too much into it. Sometimes these mystery videos turn into Wikileaks scandals for Show fans, lol.

I really hope I don't miss out on potential PS4 Pro only improvements, such as frame rate and graphical features. No plans right now to get a Pro.

But at the same time I get why this might happen.

Yeah, just like the improvements from the PS3 to the PS4 sold the system for me...it could do the same again if they do that type of jump with the Pro.

One thing I hope they improve on are pitchers covering first base when balls are hit to first basemen. I know it seems like a small thing but it's a basic fundamental of the game that rarely happens in The Show.

I am probably in the minority but all I want is for Franchise to get more attention (100 man rosters, more realistic salaries, improved trade AI, control over who retires, etc.). This game and Madden are my only "must buy" video games year in and year out so I'll be purchasing no matter what.

I'm pretty sure SCEA has their team compartmentalized so that when you see improvements to one area of the game it isn't to the exclusion of other areas. Those modes which the most people play likely get the most attention but other areas also get worked on.

I play manage mode and I see two or three things which address this mode in the still early announcement. New classic stadiums, new ball spin, more player personality and something new - team personality. I'm sure there will be more animations as well and who knows what else.

No doubt. I couldnt care less about DD and Historic Players. I don't use the players and have never messed with DD. I am a franchise player and franchise only. I truly hope these other satellite features don't overshadow or detract from the ones that matter.

Now that we are just a few weeks away from getting some real info on MLB The Show 17. Do you guys think 17 will be one of the bigger upgrades in the series with a lot of WOW factor features and improvements? Or do you think this will be one of the more duller releases in the series with mostly smaller things like gameplay fixes, new animations and small additions to current modes, slightly updated overlays for example?

After going through NBA 2k17, I now appreciate SDS for their methodical "less is more" approach. 2K, was ambitious added a lot of stuff and 99% of those features corrupted in some way or just broken, and they couldn't fix them in patches.

If SDS, put in work to curtail some legacy issues and added some modest but game changing feature or features, I'm satisfied. I can no longer go through what I went through with 2K. Each time I fired it up, I was hoping for a better experience after each update and turned it off in sadness.
