see, this is where in my opinion is something they are working on behind the scenes, but they probably work on it from time to time until they get to a part where they are comfortable to implement into the game. like lets be honest, upgrading the player models and animations to work with those player models is a massive undertaking.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Gameplay Improvements & Animations Expansion
Well all I've cared for years is improved physics. Liking what I'm hearing so far.
Still not sure if I want to buy before renting. Just in case it's BS.
I would love to see a nice 5-10 minute video in batting practice and silence. No talking, no music, just the sounds of the game. And regular batting practice, just you and the pitcher.
But props on at least doing something about the physics.Comment

Awesome stuff! Hits and throws look so much improved!
And the running speed bars are back instead of those circles! Thanks SCEA!

For people unenthused by the graphics in this trailer, keep in mind that the graphical deep dive isn't for another month and a half (3/23) where things like "grass tech" is on the schedule. A quality update to the grass rendering would be a game changer, imo.
It's a good idea to keep [respectfully] submitting feedback (i.e. the scorebug thing that they're working on) in the meantime because the devs are relying on our eyes and ears, but there's really no need to pull out the disappointment card just yet. I'm almost certain that the shading, colors, lighting etc is nowhere near what the final product will be.
That said, it looks like we're riding with essentially the same build of player models for '17 unless SDS is totally reserving a massive surprise for later. No chance they have enough time to build new models and sync them with new animations in the dev time remaining, but updates to uniforms, some more variety in body types, and maybe some uniform wrinking/texturing seems like a reasonable expectation to hope for on the player model front.Comment

So the catcher throwing meter thing I think is basically going to be like what we have had before with button pressing accuracy.Comment

I think I am basically done with getting the show in till we get better player models. The game for the last like 2-3 years has basically played a perfect game of baseball were its graphics on the other hand are really lacking and mostly still look like a ps3 game.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Gameplay Improvements & Animations Expansion
In fairness to the 'player model guys', I certainly can see their point. For the most part they do look rather unchanged from year to year. But after awhile, us diehards start to see the things SDS sees, the little things. As someone who's played a Cubs franchise every year since MLB 06 on PS2, I know what player models look like. They are improved every single year... to an extent. I definitely can tell Arrieta, Bryant, Hendricks & Baez ALL look better than 16. The faces, the beards, the little things, all are sharper and more defined.
There's also several parts of this video that is disjointed, where it looks like a mixture of an older build and a newer build back and forth. Some parts look ace, and other parts look like the same rehash since November of later model versions of 16.
I saw alot of improvements, including better flesh tones, real looking skin, and stitch arching on the uni's. But like others, there's the issues with the uniforms themselves that are starting to become bothersome, like the thick neck line things that are not in the style guide, yet have been in the game for years. Incorrect colors like the Padres brown alternate & M's teal alternate (look at the audience) are irritating as well.
I also am hoping looking at the Wrigley Field foulpoles that they FINALLY fixed (can't see it), the incorrect 'Double Santo' as I call it. Ernie Banks is a legend in the game, yet his #14 for the last two years has not been depicted on the foul pole. Instead it's two #10's (Santo), and Jenkins' #31. Don't get that at all. Banks is in the game, yet his 14 isn't up there. Sandberg is in the game, and his retired jersey number is fine on the right field flag pole.
P.S.
Another thing I noticed that no one I noticed haven't mentioned...
SF Giants Spring Training black jerseys with the orange 'SF' are in the game. Go back and watch the brief shot of Wil Myers, but pay close attention to the Giants dugout.
Does this mean the Spring Training Jerseys are in? I think so...Comment

Someone mentioned this but Arrieta definitely has a shorter sleeve shirt. This is undoubtedly a good sign because we were never able to see the biceps on players and you can clearly see his.Comment

Also, does anyone know when you'll be able to preorder from Amazon? I like getting the preorder discount they have for video games.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Gameplay Improvements & Animations Expansion
Btw, the discount covers up to 2 weeks after games come out. So if you want to buy the game, April 5th for example, discount still applies. Just in case you didn't know
Late EDIT: I found it, really hidden inside their site - https://www.amazon.com/MLB-Show-17-S...=operasport-20Last edited by Mitchrapp; 02-08-2017, 07:28 AM.Favorites:
