Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Gameplay Improvements & Animations Expansion

I cannot wait to dive into this game and see all the new animations and hit variety play out before me. What little sample size we have seen in the stream has me excited to see how it all plays out over the course of a 9 inning game and 162 game season.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Just watched this video again and noticed something strange. Throughout most of the video Indians players had navy socks. But when they were showing the catcher meter thing Lindor had red socks.

I wonder if this video is a combination of builds?

All videos are captured using different builds, just the nature of game development and tight deadlines.

With how much we have been told that the style guide is the law, there is no way they would be using a different black for some teams versus what is in the style guide. And it is easy to look up and see that all of these teams are using the same black, it is well documented.

So either they have been lying about having to stick to the guide and you are right, or something is getting messed up with the lighting making the colors seemed washed out. And since the Pirates are not the only team with this issue, I would wager a bet that it is the latter.

            Great point.

If style guide is the law then looking at the game makes one assume that SCEA has "broken the law" because clearly either the Pirates black jersey isn't following the style guide or the Marlins White Sox and Rockies black jerseys aren't following the style guide.

Also, it's safe to say something is "wrong" somewhere because the Pirates black jersey was definitely correct before MLB The Show 16.

So if at least one of those 4 jerseys mentioned above are the wrong shade of black then shouldn't SCEA be "in trouble" because they haven't corrected that issue?

The only other possible explanation makes zero sense and that would be that the Pirates jersey is actual a dark charcoal grey in the style guide but why would that be? The issue tends to be teams don't update the guide not that teams have things in the guide that have never existed.

I'm sure many hate that this topic keeps coming up so I'm sorry but it really is a puzzling issue and I "enjoy" trying to figure this out as respectfully as possible.

The Pirates black jersey is listed as black #000000 in the style guide. The same as most other black uniform pieces for other teams in baseball.

The Pirates black jerseys have never appeared as the correct color in MLB the Show. From the first year that they were added as an alternate in the game they appeared washed out with a sheen that refracted too much white light, making them look almost dark grey.

They also have a washed out yellow look to them for the logo and jersey piping, as does the hat. The color is supposed to appear as gold #FFC72B. However, it doesn't come across as such within the game when displayed on our screens.

You can look these colors up and compare a swatch of the material simply by holding them up to the screen, or just by doing a photo comparison versus the game and easily tell that something is off within the game. I have 2 game worn black Pirates jerseys in my possession and the colors are nothing of that from within the game. The front logo in the game is also undersized.

But my point is, I would highly doubt that Sony Studios would screw up black #000000 by entering the wrong data into the game, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Therefor something else is causing certain jerseys to appear off in color and dull. Especially since the Pirates entire black jersey is washed out, even the gold on it. And since are not alone in having this issue within the game.

How many years has it been? Is it just at PNC or also in other ballparks?

Reason I'm asking those two questions is because maybe the PBR is affecting the appearance of the jersey's color, especially if it's only at PNC Park and if this started last year.

It is at all ballparks. And under sunlight and stadium lights. What was the first year they had them in, '14?

Lets get back on topic folks. There is a uniform thread stickied at the top of the page. This is not the thread for this discussion. I understand this is important to you. I am not saying it doesn't deserve discussion. Just move it to the right thread.

                    Thank you.
