I set a rule for myself a few years ago that I wasn't going to buy any hardware for only one game. Among other things, this meant getting rid of the 360 (which was pretty much just around for Forza).

However, I visited a friend with a PS4 recently and we played a bit of The Show 16.

I'm planning on breaking my rule and buying a PS4 and The Show 17 next month.

There are a few other games I'll likely get, but nearly all of them are also available on PC, or else stuff I wouldn't bother getting a PS4 just for them (e.g., Sound Shapes). I'm not sure I'd ever want to limit myself to only a single game/series, but if I did, it would be either The Show or Civilization. I'm not even a huge baseball fan, but the game is so good it doesn't matter.

So, yes, I'll be buying a PS4 essentially just for The Show

i was an xbox guy and enjoyed the MVP franchise.. couldn't get fully on board with 2K, so i bought a ps3 just to play baseball games.

when ps4/xb1 were announced, i made the full jump to ps4 because the only games i really play (outside of the show) are on both consoles so.

glad i made the jump. baseball has officially become the ONLY title i will get year over year (was NHL, but skipped 17)

I originally bought mine because of the show --- but ended up using it more than I thought. If you're on the fence - GO FOR IT! Especially the PS PRO!

I have one just for the show and other then that i use it for netflix im bed and my x1 is the main console in the living room

Yep basically.

I play everything on PC but without a MLB game then i need to have a PS4.

I drool about the day someone somewhere makes a PC MLB game. I can only imagine how good MLB the Show would look on my 1080

I play almost exclusively manage mode. I was still playing high heat 02 on my pc until I realized the show had manage mode and then I bought a ps2.

It isn't the only game I play but it is the reason I bought a ps2 and it is the reason I upgraded to ps3 and ps4.

When the current gen was approaching I was going to get an Xbox One. I was loyal to Microsoft for years. I had an Xbox and Xbox 360, so it was obvious to get an Xbox One but early reviews of the system made me cringe, so I decided to make a change. #1 reason why I got a PS4 was because of the Show. I love baseball and the only baseball games on Xbox 360 were by 2K and they were okay. Also, I wanted to play these exclusives like InFamous and the Last of Us.

Best decision I ever made. Happy others have bought a PS4 for this series. I played MLB 15 to death. I skipped MLB 16 because of financial issues and I said it would be stupid to buy it Christmas 2016 if the new one is coming out in a few months. I got an email saying Griffey, Jr was on the cover of this and that was it for me, so I just pre-ordered the MVP edition tonight. My first time pre-ordering this series, so I am excited about this edition. Best sports series, ever. It's a relaxing and fun game. I can literally play it all day without being tired of it. I completed two 162 game seasons with Toronto Blue Jays (won the World Series both years) and it takes 2 months for me to finish a full franchise season, which is fine because that's what I do on weekends to unwind and I don't play my PS4 that much. I can do like 2 games in like 1 hour because the game goes by so fast. I play on 9 innings.

Anyway, I love this series and I can't wait for MLB 17!

I'm the opposite I play my PS4 95% of the time pc 3% of the time and 2% of the time I play Xbox one. My favorite game is easily the show.

I'm probably going to pick up a PS4 Pro this Black Friday primarily for MLB: The Show. I'll pick '17 up with the console, get used to the mechanics during winter (the two most recent baseball games I've played have been MVP 2005 for the Original Xbox and MLB 2K9 for the Xbox 360), and then wait for '18. I'm also interested in a couple of Quantic Dream games, namely Detroit: Become Human and the PS4 version of Heavy Rain.

However, i'll still be picking up the vast majority of my games for my Xbox One that I bought in June of 2015.

You mean pick up '16 with the console then wait for '17? '17 releases March 28.
I dont know how cheap '16 can be bought for but if you're only getting a month or so out of it, you can probably get '14 for under $10.

Well, '16 was available (albeit in digital form; I prefer physical) for $15-$20 during last November's Black Friday. If '17 is available at the same price this year, I feel that that's a fair price for four months (late November to late March) of the "latest and greatest" that the series has to offer.

If Best Buy had a good Black Friday deal, I believe I could also add on my Gamer's Club Unlocked perk, which gives me 20% off of all new games. Hopefully, that perk could be added to an existing sale price.

I just joined the PS4 club just for MLB The Show (After sitting out 16 last year). I figured I'd grab a slim while they were on sale for $249. Now the countdown until MLB The Show will seem endless!
