Re: Player Faces Have Greatly Improved in MLB The Show 17 (Polygon)
I'm about 101% positive your Lindors and Kershaws and Altuves will have improved faces but the equipment I cant even venture a guess. Not sure of the answer but with Y2Y saves will all my official SCEA players update to the new faces, models etc?
Like for example Francisco Lindor. Will I get the updated Lindor on 17 on my 16 franchise I am transferring over? Will I get these awesome face scans? Updated equipment etc?
The new faces are looking incredible.Last edited by Caulfield; 02-14-2017, 04:56 PM.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Jaw has dropped each time I look at these side-by-side comparisons.
These improvements effect every player in the game... This game is going to look unbelievable. Coming off '16 which was a good looking game in its own right.Comment

If these are just the faces with new skin tones and other effects, I can't wait to see the faces that also got an updated face scan.
Great work SDS!Comment

Your Y2Y save file doesn't include art assets. Just ID's so everyone who was created by us gets the new assets. Not sure of the answer but with Y2Y saves will all my official SCEA players update to the new faces, models etc?

They do not have new faces all the improvements are from this year's graphical improvements feature suite. None of those guys have new face scans.Comment

These look amazing. Do the new graphics apply to arms and hands, in addition to the faces?"Life is like baseball, it's the number of times you arrive home safely that counts"Comment

Dare I say these look almost photorealistic?
EDIT: I knew they'd "crack the code" for the lighting again. lolLast edited by WaitTilNextYear; 02-14-2017, 03:15 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

This is a very ignorant question so pardon me, but does that even mean? How do you improve faces with a new face scan? Lighting? There seems to be more work done than just lighting. May someone please explain how this works?Comment

Re: Player Faces Have Greatly Improved in MLB The Show 17 (Polygon)
I'm no graphic designer, but a scan is a scan. There's a video from either last year or 2 years ago showing how SCEA scans players faces. They use dozens of cameras in a 360 view for each player. That means the images they have are as good as it gets, the graphics in recent years were not up to par to mimic those real life images. This year they improved and tweaked the graphics/shadows etc to closer mimic those real life scans. It's not like their scans automatically turn to video game graphics. I'm assuming obviously more power and detail was put in to making real life look more like real life. In sum, the team's scan capturing equipment is as good as it gets, they're simply trying to figure out how to get as much detail in the game as the scans show."They do not have new faces all the improvements are from this year's graphical improvements feature suite.
