I hope they can fix the equipment colors too. It sucks with the bats. I would like to get McCutchen's bat on there with that real nice super dark maroon glossy finish but it has been impossible each year because the colors and finishes are so limited. The developers really overlook some very simple things sometimes. I wasn't even going to buy the game after how bad 16 was. I thought 2016 was like old 2k baseball. You can see why after seeing these new facial improvement pictures. Wow the 2016 graphics sucked. But after seeing this I'll be getting 17.

Re: Player Faces Have Greatly Improved in MLB The Show 17 (Polygon)
Big improvement starting to look more how it should look. Normally you only see a big graphic jump from one year to the next when new systems come out. So like first year of a sports game on ps4 compared to the year before when it was on ps3 or first ps3 game after going from ps2 to ps3. Before this year the games graphics where way behind NBA 2k, NHL and even behind madden. These look really good though. Starting to look photo realistic like NBA and NHL do. Hopefully bodies can improve next year. I was not expecting to see this kind of jump this year.Comment

Re: Polygon.com preview, Altuve and Kershaw updated faces
Russell any chance you guys can make the number on the front of player jerseys higher to match real life? As you can see in these 4 example photos the front number should be higher and closer to the team name. This affects all team jerseys with numbers on the front.
It's a pretty big difference so if it's to late for 17 Which I am guessing it is then please fix it for 18
Thanks you guys are the best!Last edited by MythicalGnome; 02-16-2017, 01:41 AM.Comment

Not exactly, from the video shown the created still looked different from the real players that have been shown... although they are highly improved from last year's game

2) Work. In. Progress. Ramone mentioned skin tones specifically were being worked on still.
Still, much more robust CAP. We will definitely see more variety than previous games where so many generated players looked noticeably the same but with different hair/facial hair.
But I don't buy The Show for the player creator ability, that is well down my list of priorities. I buy for game play and I've said before, the new ball physics alone have sold me on MLB 17.Comment

These are just a few players I pulled from the gamespot video and I ask you (aside from the 1920's black boxer I put last) these guys look like people you could see playing and have a hard time telling that they're CAP's right? Because that's how I see it.
Ramone did say right before looking at these that they weren't done refining the palette for the CAP guys, my guess is that they got the darker skinned guys down so far and are still fixing the lighter skinned guys, because all of the darker skinned CAP's look pretty darn believable to me, even more so with facial hair. The average Joe that they started with before randomizing though looked to have the same skin as the one from 16 so I'm sure that they're working on that part.
Honestly though, what game even has perfect created players? Because I've yet to see them in any sports game personally (then again, I've only played The Show and NBA 2K), I'll take these CAP's over the rest.R.I.P. Rory Markas, Nick Adenhart and Tyler Skaggs

Well you said you'd have a hard time telling that they are CAP's, as in they looks just like the real players, which is not the case as you can see by the screenshot I showed of Kershaw and the created guy
I'm not saying the CAP look bad because they don't but they don't look like the real players that have face scans

AKA, the guy you posted.
I'm not saying they're perfect. And by no means are the lighter skinned guys as good looking to me as the darker skinned dudes, they still look like they're from 16 personally. What I've been saying is that the guys I posted are pretty hard to tell apart from the real face scans (within reason, and I'm mostly referring to the second guy, because he looks fantastic IMO). I was referring to the 4 I posted when I said having a hard time telling BTW, most of the rest of them were average, like you said, which is why I picked the 4 I picked. I mostly responded to you to show you those 4.R.I.P. Rory Markas, Nick Adenhart and Tyler Skaggs
