I completely agree with Richmond...this is the ONLY game I play a full 162 (Or more hoping I make the post season), it is the only reason I bought a PS4 and to make "Improvements" that shorten the game or seem to be for the more casual player is a bit troubling. I will say, if they have truly addressed some of the AI logic like the power hitters laying down suicide squeezes that always work, or the crazy amount of catcher/pitcher put outs during a game and especially the faulty base running (2 out deep shots and the runner from second waits to run instead of just going) I would be happy as hell... this being said, going to play game 6 of my Mets and Blue Jays...hope I win and trade in 16 for 17. -
Re: More MLB The Show 17 Franchise Mode Details, Including Player Quirks
I stopped playing RTTS because I didn't like being able to control the rosters and edit players. The one thing I did like about RTTS was the stats versus each team and pitcher the game kept for your player. Maybe they'll add these stats to franchise mode now that there's so much emphasis on player lock.
I also hope you can start a game with a player lock guy on the bench like you could in '15.Comment

Really like the additions of quirks. A good step in the right direction to make franchise feel more immersive and more than a bunch of play now games.PSN: Dalton1985

I'm hoping that they touched upon Spring Training. As it stands it is rather pointless. I would like to have prompts to cut or send down players as ST progressed. Would add a bit of immersion and make it seem like you're actually setting up your roster for the season. As it stands, once you end ST the AI automatically sends players down, based largely on OVR. Adding NRI's is also a must.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

when using Y-T-Y saves, how do you think this will impact players that are current - as well as classic rosters ?Comment

I am just not following this logic. I too play all 162 in two franchises I have. The game is awesome playing full games. So nothing has changed in that department.
But this quick manage mode and critical moments feature set is not troubling in the least bit. I am not a casual player yet those features have me giddy.
Why?
Because now I can play several seasons with the plethora of classic rosters I have accumulated over the last 3 years in addition to playing my two main franchises, every pitch, every AB etc.
This gives hardcore guys like me even more freedom and free time to play ton's of baseball and fully enjoy the game over multiple seasons.
Yeah.....there are guys like us who play every game. But I can bet your bottom dollar that the information they gather via the servers tells them most don't. There are probably far more players who play one and sim 5 or have some type of system to get themselves through multiple seasons.
Well now they have two awesome features that will not leave a lot of things to random chance. Now they can be part of the simulation process via quick manage and/or Critical Moments.
I think this is a fantastic addition to the game. And this is coming from a guy who plays all 162 without quick counts.
I am looking forward to playing a 1985 season replay in a fraction of the time, and then move on to 1988, 1990 etc etc etc. Great feature for classic roster Show players who have oodles of rosters but don't have enough time to play all of them.
This is awesome. Now Playing on PS5:

MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1

Also, there NOTHING being taken away from the "full" game to accomplish this. So for those who play 162 games, and want to play 162 games, there is nothing stopping or taken away from your ability to play.....162 games!Comment

One thing I didn't think of initially but have since the announcement is that I can use the quick manage feature for my minor league games. That way I have more control over what happens with my minor league teams over the course of the season.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: More MLB The Show 17 Franchise Mode Details, Including Player Quirks
Badges have really messed up 2k series so some of us aren't as optimistic about player quirks.
They made NBA 2K very arcade like so I hope that isn't the same for MLBTS.
Ex: You get deadeye badge and start making 60% of your threes when the best players in nba only make 40%.
The boost they give can really mess up stats making them unrealistic. They can also add anothet layet to slider testing as badges can influence stuff too drastically.
This is just off of my judgement of how 2k implemented them. I have more faith in MLBTS but to say I'm not concerned a little would be a lie.

Re: More MLB The Show 17 Franchise Mode Details, Including Player Quirks
There can be an option for those who would like that info without pausing. I just did a rough draft of the image, I would prefer it only be the icon to less intrusive.
The batter walk up is OSD driven anyway, so a quick Quirk Icon wouldn't be too much on the screen, especially when it is only available for situations afforded by the quirk.
Yea but the point is if you were watching a real broadcast it wouldn't show on the OSD at all. It sounds like you will be able to pull up the quirks in a menu during the at bat.
