I think they matter. Although not a major thing, Id like to see them in the game. Especially as you get deeper in the franchise.

Having them in the game is one thing. But having them "matter more" is entirely different thing because in real life, a guy's career numbers almost has zero barring on if he is a good coach or not.

So in Franchise Mode will there be "5 Inning Logic" for the CPU? For instance, will Closers and Pinch Hitters come into the 5th inning because the CPU is treating it like it is the last inning of the game?

But besides that,

They are a smaller studio that tends to do incremental work.

It seems, maybe its just me, that the MLB is more restrictive on the product in terms of accurate representation of the league then NBA, NFL.

With them focusing on other modes more, it seems like lofty unrealistic expectations.

I could see a create a stadium feature in the future. It would work well in both DD and Franchise.

Massively disappointed tbh. Doesn't look like they've actually added anything for people who play the games, just changed what the menus looked like. The Front Office that we were all excited about looks to just be the old budget screen with a new name, while the GM goals don't look to have even changed. Player quirks are the only new thing I've seen, so hopefully they are significant.

Seriously hoping there's stuff I'm overlooking or at the very least they've improved the computer decision making on trades, roster moves and the like, or that player quirks is at least a major addition.

You mean aside from Human AI and ball physic?! I still think it will be the best The Show to date!!

I think the game will be great also, but he does have a point. For those that play the games in Franchise mode there really wasn't much done with the exception of Player Quirks. Hopefully they'll have some more to announce on Thursday. Obviously this is still a day 1 buy for me. I like the Quick Manage feature and will be using it alot.

Just watched the video. They actually highlighted "managerial opportunities" like setting your lineups to maximize your success on the field. Wow... Poor PR guy that had to write that. Nothing new in Franchise, other than a way to play the game without playing games. How many years in a row has a Franchise re-haul been promised? I mean, I get they are on a short development cycle, but its obvious that Franchise is not their priority and I don't think it ever will be. Sports games are all about Ultimate Team/Diamond Dynasty modes because they make the money and Franchise modes, once the backbone of these games, no longer matter.

To the people in here upset about the other people in here that are upset over what has, and mostly hasn't been revealed this week, why are you so concerned about what others feel?

What difference does it make, to you, if someone else is not happy with the lack of franchise updates and changes? Some of you are way too protective of things that are not your baby. And as long as it is done in a constructive manner, as per the rules of this site and common courtesy, there should be no reason why someone cannot voice their concerns or displeasure.

Sure there are some people that cross that line, and they are dealt with. But as for the rest of everything here. This place becomes rather unbearable to be around because there is so much elitism here. And blind eyes are turned to it, for the most part.

Case-in-point; Gamestop Monday comes around and a 2 minute trailer is released highlighting what will be focused on in franchise mode in '17... Just like in the subsequent weeks leading up to this one, everyone watches and dissects the information here.

However, unlike other weeks we have a vast majority (in number) that are not quite overjoyed with the information for a change. Well this just can't be tolerated by some. Like pouring proverbial water on a robot, it sends them into chaos and damage control mode. The game that WE ALL love, hence why we are even on a forum in the first place, is getting mixed reception and they must stand-up for it!

Why is this sort of trolling acceptable?

Finally, franchise mode may not be the bread-and-butter of this game, or even what puts food on the table at SCEA. But I can tell you that the diehards that play every pitch of every game most likely put more hours and time into each iteration of MLB The Show than any other user base. So for them to feel slighted and to have had their hopes up, for even the smallest of changes, should really speak volumes.

I don't think I have seen one person in here complain about the "features" that have been highlighted in these videos, but rather they are concerned about the direction the franchise mode is seemingly trending in all sports games. And they are upset that legacy issues have not been addressed, again. They are disheartened that features that are so important, the ones that have been named even in this very thread, are lacking; yet again.

When you put that much time into anything and are rewarded with minimal upgrades each year you tend to get a little downtrodden. That shouldn't take away from all the other things that have been upgraded or made better by this game's development staff, but rather should drive them to focus on what else could be worked on in moving forward. That is how we have gotten results in the past, by working together and voicing our concerns and opinions.

But shaming and turning one's nose up at someone else that is voicing these concerns is doing nobody any good. When we hear it is only a 2 minute video, wait for Thursday's deep dive for all the information. And then a day later, how it is only a 12 minute video, wait for Thursday's deep dive. Then what happens on Thursday? It was only 45 minutes of franchise discussion, wait til the game comes out before saying anything?

When people start making assumptions without having all the facts/features/improvements known, then it could create misinformation to be relayed to someone who is just browsing the site looking for information.

There is nothing wrong with someone not being pleased with the information listed thus far, but just because something like rotating interleague schedules wasn't mentioned in the early videos, doesn't mean that it hasn't been added to this years game.

The idea of waiting until the deep dive stream before making assumptions as to what issues have or haven't been fixed shouldn't be viewed as people trying to silence those with issues, but rather asking people to wait until everything is known before we start with the complaining as to what hasn't been fixed.

You can call me an elitist or whatever it doesn't bother me, but I've been around the forums long enough to know how this song and dance goes.

And setting the information straight is fine, when there is information to provide. But speculation against speculation doesn't do anything for anyone, neither does doing so in a manner that demeans the uninformed.

And pointing out how long you've been around said forums is exactly the definition of elitist. It doesn't matter if you care, personally. It's an attitude that makes topics spiral out of control. Not simply the relaying of information or an opinion. And for attitude given there is likely to be many more returned, leading these entire boards into a spiral of suck.

I agree with your point of not jumping to assumptions of something that hasn't been mentioned, and that did happen in this thread with regard to the rotation of the schedule, and keeping facts straight it very important as non posters that read outnumber the posters.

On the other hand, not in this thread, but the gamestop monday one the first couple of pages users expressed their disappointment or lack of 'wow factor' that the video had, and then expressed they are hoping thursday has better news. And then there came along users that put down other's opinions with down

I guess my point is there will always be people who always post negative posts, and people who always post positive posts. And I have felt for the most part this year people have done a good job expressing their concerns constructively and with tact, while remaining hopeful.

It's not acceptable. And will start being dealt with if need be.

What we have seen so far about franchise has made a lot of people underwhelmed or worried about how much improvement has gone into that mode. And that is totally fine. It's totally fine to post how you feel about it in a constructive manner. But also, before you go bananas about it, I ask you to wait until the stream on Thursday before going off the deepend.

At that point we will most likely know all the answers.

Either way, at this point the pissing contest ends. I'm not singling anyone out, but there are guilty parties on both sides.

Once again, keep it constructive.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and there will be no attacks from anyone regarding their opinion either way. This includes backhanded or subtle comments that can be construed in multiple ways.

Before you hit the post button, ask yourself if your post is constructive, is it attacking someone, is it passive aggressive, or is it trying to invalidate someone's opinion. Then post accordingly.

But at this point forward, you risk being banned if the above is not followed.

Believe me, I'd love to have relocation and/or expansion too.

However, I learned from one of the devs on here yesterday that San Diego Studio's team is only about 1/4 the size of NBA 2K's.

That stunned me when I found that out. These guys, despite the small size of the development team, have made The Show a better baseball game than NBA 2K is a basketball game, so far as on-field play goes.

Notice the Houston Rockets avatar I have. I'm primarily a basketball fan. I just got into The Show with 14 because I needed a baseball game for my collection--I hadn't really owned one since Griffey Slugfest on the N64. And then I had a fantastic time, so I bought The Show 15. And 16. And now preordered 17. Despite all manpower and licensing obstacles, they haven't disappointed me yet...unlike NBA 2K12 did, and 2K17 has.

Anyway, as for relocation and expansion, my gut tells me that's more the fault of Major League Baseball, not the dev team. If MLB says they can't do something, they can't do that thing. That's why player suspensions of ANY kind are not in the game--it would make the league look bad. "What, OUR players do that? Nah, what are you talking about? That can't happen!"

MLB is staunchly protective of their image--and until recently, their copyright. Remember when it was really difficult to get a baseball clip onto YouTube? Now we have guys like BronxBomber42 making highlight reels, and the actual MLB YouTube channel putting ENTIRE GAMES online--including that awesome World Series Game 7.

So maybe we'll get team creation/movement in the future, and be able to give Montreal back a team (I'll just stop there before I launch into a rant about Jeffrey Loria being the reincarnation of Harold Ballard).
Does it suck that they're not there? Of course.
But SDS has their hands tied by the license. They can only do what they're allowed.
SDS is the train. MLB is the tracks. A train can't go anywhere but where its rails take it.

So to do what they've already done, with a dev team that small?

Clearly I'm in the minority here but I honestly can't think of a big new feature I would like in franchise mode. I was excited for these videos hoping I'd see something new and exciting that I hadn't thought of, but I'm plenty happy going back to the franchise mode I've been playing for a little while now. I'm also pretty confident we'll hear some good news thursday regarding game logic and some changes to existing features, the sorts of tweaking and tuning they do every year but that wouldn't fit in this video. Honestly with where the mode is at right now, polishing it up around the edges is plenty exciting to me.
