Re: Manage only mode
Unless a SDS employee is willing to can chime in here, we won't know until release day. There were improvements made in MLB 16 regarding sacrifice bunts where the batter does not go fishing for balls well out of the strike zone. The animation was still a little borked. The animations made it look like the batter still goes for the bunts out of the strike zone, but at least strikes weren't called. Plus the pickoffs to first base did see a slight improvement over previous years. I didn't pick off that many guys in MLB 16, but I did get a few over the course of the season (versus getting none at all in MLB 14 and 15). Heck one night I even picked off two base runners in one game which shocked the heck out of me.
I will be a happy camper with MLB 17 if:
1) MoM game play is either the same or better than it was in MLB 16.
2) The Broadcast presentation are the same or better than in MLB 16.
3) The MoM dugout camera is still in the game.
4) MoM gets the round bat hitting a round ball physics changes.
5) MoM gets the human AI throwing changes.
PS: looks like accessing MoM gameplay will no longer be hidden like it was these last few years. It appears that accessing a MoM game will be on the same screen the new Quick Manage feature is launched from and this should be good for us MoM folks as more people might try the mode, they might actually like it, there could be some converts and we MoM folks might not be quite a fringe group as we presently are. -

Re: Manage only mode
I will as always chime in and be vocal in my support of MoM. Getting a major injury in my right shoulder really opened my eyes, and being able to still enjoy the show while recovering was really cool. In fact it was the only video game I could play for months, and only MoM. There was a long period of time where losing the functionality of my right arm was a real possibility (thankfully that time has past) and knowing that I could still easily play and enjoy the show if that happened was kind of a big deal.
Please keep MoM in and show it support, both because it is awesome and because even people with disabilities can play it and have a great time. My Stats may not show me to be a MoM lover anymore, but it kind of holds a special place in my heart and will be something I hope continues forever in the show.Last edited by TheWarmWind; 03-09-2017, 02:40 AM.Comment

Re: Manage only mode
I was happy with 16 and had some really great games and loved how they played out. I can only imagine what 17 will bring. There has to be more thought and realism put in if they invested in quick manage imo. Time will tell

Add in quirks and what appears to be new trade logic and it will be changed and probably improved.≡Comment

Re: Manage only mode
Manage only Mode is the only mode I've played since getting the show 11 years ago. Last year was almost perfect. With Nomo's sliders the game played better then ever before. If they hopefully incorporate rotating inter league schedules then I'm happy.Comment

Re: Manage only mode
My biggest complaint in 2016 was the anemic CPU offense. It just had a very difficult time hitting and took extensive slider adjusting to get it to near-RL MLB numbers. From just a small sample of CPU vs CPU I've seen in 2017, it looks to be improved. *crosses fingers*Comment

Re: Manage only mode
Personally i didn't have those issue's in 2016,but i play Mom with Quick counts which most guys don't.Reason being i find it hard to get realistic walk and strikeout numbers on normal.Looking forward to quick manage.I will probaly quick manage all my minor league games when OS rosters come out

Re: Manage only mode
Nearly every Manage mode player in 2016 had the same experience. We will all find out when we put the disc in the ps4 but the ball spin is certainly a game changer and has the potential to be a major improvement.≡Comment

Re: Manage only mode
I'm going to start on default all, and try very minimal slider adjustments to start.

Re: Manage only mode
I tried in one stream to ask developers what umpire setting they use to test the game but no answer. I'll use default.≡Comment

Re: Manage only mode
I just finished my first MLB 17 MoM game and let me tell you it was the most enjoyable MoM games I have played to date since I first discovered The Show back in 2012 (and have bought the game every year). Funny thing is, the evening did not start all that enjoyable. I was rather frustrated with what I had seen with MLB 17 prior to my game. You see I had played six non-QC, Fast Play, the last week of Spring Training CPU vs CPU games since the game unlocked last night. Two games were played very last night (I only got a couple of hours of sleep LOL). Another one was played while I slept. One played while I was off at work and two more were played upon coming home from work. For these six games I used basically default sliders settings in all these games. One game was a high scoring 9-7 game with 16 hits for the winning team and 11 hits for the losers. So high scoring games are possible with the default slider settings. But all the other games were extremely low scoring. One was a 1-0 Cubs over the Indians and what really stood out in that game was the extremely high number of strike outs. Both teams combined for 7 hits in total, 26 strike outs and 4 walks. But the other four low scoring games were similar. I even began my MoM game with these slider default settings and I got real frustrated when after four innings there were no hits for either team, no score of course and yes an extremely high number of strike outs. I said ENOUGH, and I re-started the game this time using the same slider settings I used in MLB 16 with one small tweak. Now the re-started game also began scoreless through three innings with only two hits. But then things took off from there and it was one of the most dynamic/organic MoM games I have ever played.
Positives from the game:
1) When the ball was struck well, I witnessed ball trajectories off the bat I had never seen before in previous "The Show" releases. When the ball is hit well, the new ball physics are outstanding.
2) Throughout the game, I witnessed a number of fielding plays I had never seen before in previous "The Show" releases. My 3rd baseman Nolan Arenado in the game resembled the real world Nolan Arenado when he dove for the ball with a circus like catch and then proceeded to throw out the base runner. Plus on a different play my opponents 1st baseman made a nice play where he threw to 2nd base to force out my base runner and the SS threw back to 1st base. It wasn't a double play, but it was a series of animations never seen before. Very believable game play. Plus I did witness a few infield hits when it made sense that it would be an infield hit. So in summary, the new AI fielding plays very well in MoM games.
I don't want to post my sliders yet. I want to play more MoM as well as CPU vs CPU games before I endorse the sliders. But my gut tells me default sliders are not the way to go. My gut tells me we are going to want to tweak our slider settings. But if tonight's MoM game is any indication, we have a lot of good MoM ball games ahead of us if we can only be patient trying to tweak the game to how we want it to play.
BTW ... my games was the following box score result:
COL 6 - 11 - 0
TEX 3 - 8 - 0
Only downside to my game was my pitchers struck out 14 Rangers and my CPU MoM opponents struck out 9 Rox. Seems a tad high ... but still a fun game was played.Last edited by My993C2; 03-29-2017, 12:47 AM.Comment
