In regards to Interleague schedules, couldn't they just use previous (real-life) schedules after the first year in franchise? I'm sure 95% of us (including me) would not say, "hey, that's the 2012 schedule!" And even so it would be better than the same interleague teams every year. Just do the real schedule year 1, another, previous schedule (say 2010) in year 2, 2011 in year 3, 2012 in year 4, etc. until you rotate back around. I'd be perfectly happy with that.

Interleague rotating schedules must be a pain to code, I'm sure if your Franchise Dev could do it, it'd be in the game already.

I don't know if this would work but why not make 3 schedules for each team. There are already 5? I think because every 5 years in Franchise you get the '16 schedules again.

So if you create 3 for each team, they would rotate every 3 years.

Only problem is Houston just recently moved to the American League. If I'm an NL Central or AL West team, I may not be able to call out what schedule year I'm looking at, but I'd certainly know that it would be pre-2013.

So at most, you could play out and rotate five years worth of a schedule, which is better than nothing I guess! Close enough, at least.

But could somebody help me out... are we playing out the exact same schedule every year, or are they able to rotate NL with NL properly, just not the distinct interleague teams?

EDIT: Ah, MetsFan16 not only answers my question, but also addresses the concern question I had. Rotating five years? No problem, just do 2013-2017 over and over again from 2018, on. No division messes caused by the 'Stros.

But I don't think there were complaints in that regard about IE. IE is just one aspect of it. 2k franchise play provides mounds of on screen data that is not, I don't think, tied to IE. For instance, if you have a rookie player, for which there is no IE data, after the rookie has 10 at bats, the OSD will start to give statistical data on that player. So if it is not IE per se, then the engine that generates the statistical data should be revealed in OSD much much more frequently. It is done beautifully in 2k without the broadcasters even discussing it.

IE really isn't as comprehensive as it sounds . IE basically serves two purposes within DD:

            1. It makes people diversify lineups IF and only IF they are using live cards. IE doesn't effect flashback or legend cards. Even with live cards, the effects can be window dressing. If Trout has a 1 star matchup, he is easily still the best live card centerfielder. Also, the only time you are using full live card lineups are when you are doing team command missions.

            2. Marketplace aka virtual currency. Card values are largely determined by OVR tier (common, bronze, silver, gold, diamond). IE can shift cards for a day between tiers. So a bronze card that usually sells for 74 stubs could suddenly start selling for hundreds of stubs with a max 5 star matchup. If you have duplicates of those cards you can sell those for larger then normal profit.
I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....

Now if someone truly is two different players depending on whether they're playing during the day or night (ie great at night/terrible during the day or vice versa), then you'd you need both a positive and a negative quirk to reflect that. I don't think they've implemented negative quirks though. Someone else in the thread asked about that being a necessary addition for something like Lester's pickoff move for example.
There are no negative quirks as such but a guy with day player will get a slight increase in day game and a slight decrease at night. Same with road warrior and home body. Probably also with fastball vs breaking pitch.

A lot of the time they will be balancing each other but when they stack will be when the player gets a significant boost or decline. A player with home body, day player, dead red getting a fastball in a day game at home will get a boost. Same guy in a night game at home - those cancel each other out and he only gets the boost or decline for fastball or breaking pitch which will be insignificant.

One good thing for me is I dont get more than 2 sometimes 3 seasons into my franchise before I carry over to the next years version of the Show, at which time then is when I get my fresh sched with new interleague opponents. Its less than ideal but it beats playing 25/30 years with the same sched.

Can we expect more realistic occurrences of injuries? You have to jack the slider pretty high to get them at all when playing the games, but then that makes them way overblown when you sim.

Instead of actually improving spring training, they made it easier to skip.

So, I was talking about franchise mode with a friend last night and we discussed our frustrations with the mode last year as I was telling him what we've learned so far for this year (he doesn't follow along).

In that, I realized that I forgot to ask about a few things that were left unaddressed in 16 that maybe could have made it into 17 without getting a mention in the stream since they wouldn't necessarily qualify as noteworthy features/fixes for a lot of people:

                          1) The option for delayed trades. It was removed last year and was mentioned and reported a bunch. I know it was speculated that it was perhaps removed due to an issue with offers getting pulled with the delay on in 15.

It was also reportedly being looked at during patch cycles last year, so hopefully the devs figured it out and it was quietly added back for 17 as, IMO, it's an invaluable tool for 30 team control.

                          2) This is VERY minor, but in 16, after a player was resigned or signed a FA deal in the offseason, his previous season was recorded as TOT for the team played instead of the actual team he played on. The issue was that they apparently based that on the calendar year instead of the baseball season, since anyone signed in the new calendar year had correct stats.

This was organizational as well, meaning it was the same for minor league players even if they only played at the MLB level for one of the teams (hope that makes sense!).

Ideally, this will eventually be changed to displaying more than just TOT anyway (such as both teams AND the total), but hopefully at least that one aspect was addressed.

                          3) The stats section of the player card was missing in the lineup screen and in-game for 16. Also, I don't think you could see minor league players' season stats on player card at all anymore.

                          4) You could no longer see team totals on the bottom of the player stats screen. It was replaced by the toggle info for 16's new stat sorting.

Again, none of these are huge deals or anything (though the trade delay ranks as pretty important to me, at least), but these are all things that would certainly add to 17 while being minor enough to potentially fall under fixes/improvements that might not be the kind of things mentioned in feature overviews (we do get some of these every year).

Plus, at one time or another, I believe they were all reported to the dev team via bug reports, meaning they should have been on their radar. So, I'm hoping there was enough time and/or feasibility for at least a couple of these to be addressed for 17.
