If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably dependent on organizational need. I'll spoiler tag since this goes into some of the Gamespot video content:

    Spoiler

Probably a good question for the Thursday stream, though.

The RTTS stuff is amazing, might play that along with franchise mode.

This is how you make a career mode immersive without a scripted story! So hype!

I am a little concerned that it will be a little too scripted as well. Let's face facts they can't cover everything in a single year.

If I create and infielder and they want me to play outfield then it appears the only smart option is to say okay. Of course, I don't want to play the outfield because I already have a RTTS outfielder and wanted to try the infield. But if you say no you are told you will be riding the bench.

Please don't penalize me if I don't want to switch to a position I may have already played to death in previous RTTS versions.

Well I honestly don't plan on agreeing to change my position (maybe temporarily, definitely not permanently) and am willing to deal with the consequences.

I never played this mode before. Are you guaranteed to make the show or you really have to play good and have good numbers to advance.

Hopefully, it will be contingent on organizational depth at that position. For example, if you're on the Orioles or Rockies and at 3B, they may want to switch your path because you're being blocked by one of the best, Arenado and Machado. Which is very realistic, because look at guys like Mookie Betts who switched to OF because he was blocked by Pedroia at 2B. I'm hoping there is some logic into how they try to move you around.

It's not guaranteed - your numbers (both ratings and performance) and organizational need determines how short or long it will take. Of course, playing on a lower level can make this go quicker, plus the game fudges the difficulty levels a bit to make it easier in the lowest level, but harder once you make it to MLB (assuming that hasn't changed for '17).

It's very possible to gain enough training points and knock the cover off the ball to reach the majors during September callups or even before.

This sounds very interesting. I may have to give this a try this year. I purchased the hall of fame edition so I will in DD a lot as well as franchise.

I hope we can do more regarding contracts, maybe sit out if we are unhappy, have more contract negotiation options...needs a lot more options. Endorsements would be great as well as interview requests, if you say something wrong can effect relationships in the lockerroom, etc...

I'm weary of the 2x training bonus that was applied because of the manager pep talk... it's already easy enough to increase your attributes.

you don't really see guys sit out because of their contracts in the MLB though, happens in NFL but guys like Cole and Sanchez who get renewed at the minimum typically play at the minimum and remember that down the road when they actually have some bargaining power.

The best players can do is make a good arbitration case during their ARB years other than that the MLB organizations have most if not all the power until free agency
