Player Quirk vs Guess Pitch vs. Individual Pitch Confidence

How does the show reconcile these conflicting and contrasting bonus features. Moreover, how does individual pitch confidence, lets say breakballer individual confidence is down in the dumps. You guess pitch and location correctly and the pitcher is great at breaking balls, but his confidence in that pitch is at 20%, with all those tied to the Plate Coverage Indicator. I could imagine they would play the averages, guess pitch + Location + day game + individual pitch confidence - breakballer. the PCI shrinks 2%.

I think it seems overly complex but it probably is not. The PCI is the only boost (or penalty) that is actually taking place, it is not like attributes like power are being boosted.

Even before Quirks this existed (as you kind of stated) via pitcher confidence. The PCI would grow/shrink based on the pitchers overall confidence. Now there is just one more thing to take into consideration and somethings end up cancelling each other out.

Its just a series of "IF this THEN that" that happens behind the scenes I assume.
Example:

IF pitcher confidence is high = shrink PCI
IF hitter is a daytime hitter AND its daytime = expand PCI
IF hitter is breaking ball hitter on breaking balls = expand PCI
IF pitcher confidence is high on breaking ball = shrink PCI

In the scenario above there are 2 of each (expand and shrink), at the end they cancel each other out and there is a effectively no boost.

I think they said individual pitch confidence does not affect the hitter (or PCI) at all, it just affects the command of that pitch.

I believe that is correct, however there is a pitcher confidence and I think that effects PCI. I might be wrong though.

I think what effects the PCI are pitching attributes like H/9 and pitch confidence effects the command. But I also might be totaly wrong about that

There's a lot of layers to this now with quirks, for sure. Glad we mostly figured out the relationships between PCI size and difficulty level years ago, it would have been tough now with all the different factors in play!
