How about when the sign is blank? I've seen that once so far.

I'm playing the game on 4K HDR (Samsung 8500) an absolutely beautiful game! Loving the deflections off the gloves, the ball physics are really good! Hit Variety I'm seeing from some of the swings, very good!

This game is absolutely amazing. Definitely living up to the hype so far. Gameplay is phenomenal. Graphics are beautiful (even on old 1080P & OG PS4). Framerate issues are (seemingly) gone. Hit variety is SUCH a treat.

Can't wait until OSFM drop so I can begin my RTTS and Franchise.

With that said, I really hope they can patch the 'sunglasses being worn at night' deal. Really looks silly

Yes. Once the honeymoon will end, maybe some user around here will notice it too. More hits, more runs, more HR's. For me it's a big no-no, but it's just me. The game is clearly tailored for DD players and for a more casual approach.

Or certain instances where the sunglasses sit on the tip of the nose or 3 inches off the face altogether. Saw both last night with players in the batters box

re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions

Update to impressions as I completed games four and five of my ten-game test set.

Porcello and Verlander had a great dual in Detroit, as V got his revenge for a very close Cy Young vote last year. Tigers win 3-2

I have been able to temper the power numbers and 450foot bombs with a Power slider down a click to 4.

I gave up a HR to right field that just barely cleared, and I am finding that I need to make really exceptional contact to put a charge into fly balls. I am pretty happy at 4 right now, but will update after game ten.

              Some impressions**

The game for me, (so far so good) has been flawless with framerate, and no stuttering or skipping at all. Thanks SDS for really tightening this up.

Graphics are just so plush, the time/sun shadows in-game, are really well done. The stadium is dark where it should be, and when the lights come on, the colors pop. So nice.

Animations are smooth, and with my sliders so far, guys that ought to be out by a step are, and guys that make the fielders put a little extra sauce on the ball are doing so..

I like the emotions with big strikeouts and nice plays in the field. I have not seen the dreaded outfielder double crow-hop, pump fake, resulting in late throws to the plate. happy with that.

I am using Pure Analog Fielding (throwing) on Legend, and so far I have seen one throwing error, and I knew it was my fault when I threw it. So far, so good.

The framerate being so good has allowed me to keep the pitch speed at 5 and offspeed at 7. Fairly happy so far with those settings.

The zone hitting seems to be a little less forgiving with regards to making good contact by not tracking the ball (MLB16) I like that it is harder, and requires you to sit on mistakes, which you can do also by being selective and waiting to ambush fastballs. Good representation of the pitching/hitting dynamic.

Tiger Stadium at 1pm on a July Day with clear skies, looked phenomenal. Great use of shadows and lighting.

One replay challenge so far, on a play where Moreland jumped up to get a high throw, and came back down on the base before the runner got there. He was called safe, and I challenge, and the runner was called out on the overturn.

In that vein, something I had REALLY hoped would be fixed was the outcome of the challenge actually waiting to be revealed by the umpiring crew. Meaning, they take off the headset and make the ruling, but without me seeing the ruling's outcome on the screen prior to them doing so. I am fairly sure that when we watch a game in real life, the MLB Network does not have a graphic up on the screen before NY gives the ruling to the umpires. It's a little thing, but knowing the outcome kind of dilutes the surprise by the umpiring crew.

Harold Reynolds has some cool stuff to say, and we will see how long it is before he starts to repeat the same things over and over in a 162 game season... Updated Commentary downloads anyone??

I have five more games (at least) until V 1.1 of Stealyerface's Ultra-Realism Slider Set is updated, but so far, this is shaping up to be a fantastic game.

Yes, standard PS4 with a non-HDR Samsung TV.

re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions

Early impressions - ball spin and new infielder AI have changed the game. I've only seen one ball down the line land fair, the rest all curve foul. I've only seen one infield hit - infielders once they get the ball even pitchers become Ozzie Smith.

The result for me in manage mode is lack of offense. Perhaps there will be an adjustment in a patch but with the pending release of Elite Dangerous for the ps4 there is a good chance the show 17 will go on the shelf and collect dust.

Liking commentary better then I expected, still wish they were more conversational with each other, but it's still real good. Harold Reynolds is great, Kershaw got ticked after a pitch and stared in at the ump and Harold said, "it's no time to get mad, maybe the catcher should go out and tell him it's ok"...very nice.

Because I have always loved this game and the gameplay, particularly this year, is the best yet makes it easy to overlook but the jaggies are as bad as ever.

Played 6 games last night. Reynolds said the exact same thing about one of the two pitchers for 5 of those games. Ugh.

But at least the terrible melted faces and bright red Marlins are fixed. Oh, and Tommy La Stella is no longer playing with the Big Head cheat on.
