Stadium looks real good. Freeman still doesn't have a proper load and swing though. Mo-Caps need to be priority #1 for next years game.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - SunTrust Park
Other than the green asymmetrical outfield walls, green seats, battery waterfall, Comcast and Omni towers behind right field, brick back stop, etc., yeah looks just like Turner..

Seriously, I think it looks pretty distinct from Turner. That's not exactly hard to manage though since Turner was probably the blandest of the post-OPACY parks. The view from behind homeplate reminds me a bit of Target Field even if they look nothing alike overall.Last edited by Aensland; 03-23-2017, 12:40 PM.Comment

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

I'm also a city guy and feel that ballparks work best in an urban setting so the move out to the suburbs rubs me the wrong way too. I'd have preferred they spruced up Turner and made an effort to take part in improving the surrounding blocks (apparently that element has been singled out for having depressed turnout).
All that said, the new park doesn't look bad in these latest reveals. I was extremely underwhelmed by the first set of designs shown to the public though so maybe it's just a matter of exceeding lowered expectations. Still, the Show video and actual photos I've seen make it look somewhat intimate, I like how they've used red brick inside (reminds be a bit of Comerica) and they did a good job of simulating an urban backdrop by the developing the area beyond the outfield. I'm looking forward to playing in it.
I'm glad they moved looks like it'll be much nicer. Brand new Omni hotel going in with a bunch of good places to eat. I'm excited to make the trip down from Charlotte now.GamerTag: Blazzen85

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - SunTrust Park
The traffic situation probably will not be any better at the new location..In some ways it may be worse..I lived in Atlanta for 10 years and never really had troubles getting to Turner Field..The neighborhood around it may be shady, but the stadium itself could have been updatedComment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - SunTrust Park
The new stadium is directly across the interstate from The Weather Channel's headquarters. Prepare the inevitable references to this when the stadium experiences its first rainout.
Overall, I like the use of brick throughout the stadium, something that was mostly lacking from Turner Field. The new stadium is a lot more polished than the Olympic stadium that the Braves inherited in the 90s.
It's hard to believe MLB has gone a full 5 years since the last new stadium being built, especially considering how many new stadiums debuted over the past two decades. Really only Oakland and Tampa Bay remain has teams that should get new stadiums, but can't due to political/budget reasons.Comment

Excellent job by the SDS team. Look fantastic. As a Yankee fan, I may have to consider a Braves franchise now Or, at the very least, play my first game of '17 Yankees @ Braves.
Spoilerand of course, defeat the braves :wink:Comment

The Stadium looks great, reminds me of a mix between Turner, Nationals Park and Target Field. The warning track color and infield dirt always seems off color but other than that looks great.Comment

Bolded for truth. The Ted was in a pretty rough part of town. There were only 2 hotel options within "safe" walking distance from the stadium and they were both pretty horrible (I stayed in both). Still better than trying to fight traffic though.
I'm glad they moved looks like it'll be much nicer. Brand new Omni hotel going in with a bunch of good places to eat. I'm excited to make the trip down from Charlotte now.
I like new things.Maybe my hometown can be sold to an individual, instead of a media group.Comment

Funny. All the times I've been there I've never felt like that was a bad part of town?
I must be more naive that I though. [emoji1]

The state capitol is less than 0.5 mile away. The world famous Zoo Atlanta is a 1 mile away.
It look great in the video. Is one of the reasons why I'm purchasing 17'. Not to be lost, in all this thank you SDS for a great job.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - SunTrust Park
off topic, but in 1992 my parents and I went to a Braves game at the old Fulton County Stadium, we broke down, pushed the car into a bar parking lot, the cop told us to leave the windows down or they would probaby be broken by morning.Comment

To be honest that's not unusual to happen in any big city. A vehicle left in bar parking lot after hours & the officer was wrong for saying it.Comment

Another thing to remember regarding ball parks being in the urban areas is that Atlanta has a lot more sprawl than most large cities (a 2014 report ranked us #2). The city proper has a relatively small population, but the surrounding counties have a lot. So, on top of the area just in general not being very desirable, the majority of fans had to travel a decent distance to get to the games. The new park is located much closer to the more dense popular ticket buyers.Comment

Now its onto picking off some southern minor league parks.
