PS4 does not have the same install issue that XBOX has. Installs are nearly instant to start the game, and it will continue to install while you play.Just wondering how long the 16 version took to install from disc?? debating on going digital but got the gamers club from BB. More than likely downloading the Day 1 patch will take longer.Comment

Re: quick question install time
If you fully preload the digital version before Tuesday (and that starts Saturday), you'll be playing the full version of the game as soon as the game releases. Not just the single game (which will most likely be Cubs-Indians).
Has nothing to do with the servers either. I've never had trouble finishing a preload before a launch date and I only have 10 mbps download speed.Comment

Re: quick question install time
After you purchase, go to your library, scroll down to "purchased", find MLB 17 and hit X. On that screen, highlight the countdown clock and hit X again. You'll get a full screen with the release countdown clock and a checkbox at the bottom with "auto-download". Check that box. The expected download date will appear (it's 3/25). Then just wait like the rest of us.
It's supposed to download preloads automatically in Standby/rest mode, but you might want to leave the console on tomorrow night/Saturday just in case.Last edited by bcruise; 03-23-2017, 06:08 PM. Reason: Got my dates mixed up again! Why can't it actually be tomorrow?Comment

I know how to make it preload and auto download, but didn't know if it would auto download the opening patch along with it. Or would the patch start to download when I start the game the first time. After you purchase, go to your library, scroll down to "purchased", find MLB 17 and hit X. Re: quick question install time
My bad, didn't read closely enough.
I want to say that since the digital version of a game is always the up-to-date one (and if it's not, it prompts you to download the patch), that the release day patch would be included with the download (meaning, it wouldn't even appear to be a patch download - just part of the full game one) and wouldn't require extra downloading. I couldn't say for sure, though that's my guess.
Physical copies, on the other hand, will always need to download the release day patch separately because the disc was printed before the update was released.Comment

This.......every game I have preloaded (ME:A, HZD, NHL) has been immediately available to play the full game at exactly 12am EST on release dayIf you fully preload the digital version before Tuesday (and that starts Saturday), you'll be playing the full version of the game as soon as the game releases.
