    RTTS: Playing as an OF

I have been playing the Show since 09. While I am mainly a franchise guy, I do tend to get decently far in my RTTS career's. With all the new stuff they added this year I plan on doing the same. Every year though I pick an Infielder or pitcher. Never an OF. I would like to play as an OF as that is where I played my entire life. but the camera the last few years has been HORRID. I cant do it.

Any word on a new camera? Or do you guys have any success doing OF?

In MLB 16 i've drop the ball because the camera fielding was terrible and unrealistic ( basically you don't track the ball, just follow a marker with a brutal switch of the camera ). There was a great post about that, months ago. I'll try to find it.

I have a CF I have been playing for the last few years. For the most part I have no issues fielding. I occasionally break the wrong way when the ball comes off the bat but other than that I do fine.

I don't remember any camera issues while playing this year and I just finished the season last week. The camera stays behind me and follows my player. Maybe I have just gotten used to it. I certainly don't remember brutal camera cuts.

Anyone ever roll as a starting pitcher? The idea of developing into a staff ace is intriguing to me

I have one. He is now the #1 pitcher on the Cubs going into 2018 I think. I was the #4 pitcher until about a week ago when I realized that I had 35,000 unused stubs that I did not want to go to waste so I used them to buy training points.

Not to hijack your question but I am wondering if anyone does a RTTS closer? I played (and simulated) a full career with my second baseman (who became a third baseman later in his career, who became a left fielder later in his career who became a center fielder later in his career, who went back to second base later in his career, who then went to first base before becoming a second baseman to end his career) and I wanted to do a pitcher just to waste time this weekend. Starter would take too much time to get anywhere I feel like.

Honestly I just hold in the right analog stick so I'm not fighting the camera. I've always played outfield in RTTS because that's where i was when I played irl.

Hey I have one of those too!

Closers can be very slow to gain points. If you are on a bad team you could go a week between appearances and then only pitch one inning.

Granted you don't need to worry about using points for stamina and you can get by with developing fewer pitches but it really seemed like my closer was starved for points at times, especially playing on the White Sox. (sorry Nick)

U have to get use to the Camera. Best thing to do is press right anlog stick when batter hit the ball. U can see from the top where it will go. With new ball physic could be diffrent. I play one Sp, CF and SS. In 16 i had way to many throwing error as SS. Either i do Sp and SS rtts, or i do player lock Franshise as Sp and SS. There i will play Sp and sim every 3 one. With SS i play 3 games and sim 6 games. if both fall on they same day i play Sp.

Relevant to topic: I hate that I'll probably never have another moment like this in RTTS.

                    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/isMaIVE8RYs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Why? Well, that color-changing circle as the ball comes in signifies manual catch being on, meaning that I had to time a button press (think it was L2) plus time my R2 dive.

                    Yeah, i was excited.

Manual catch was removed from the game in '15. I assume it was because almost no one used it.

There is a new OF camera in 16 that is much better than previous years (14,15)

I have a starting pitcher in year 3. I enjoy it quite a bit

The right clicking of the analog stick is definitely the way to go. It have been a life saver for me when I've used it. I have A CF, a SP, a left-handed SS, and a C/1B.

Here the video i was talking about. You see The Show 15 vs The Show 16 fielding camera.

Why did he use two different situations to compare? The mlb 15 video has a ball hit in from of him whereas the mlb 16 video has a ball hit behind him

I think the camera would work just fine if they move the distance that triggers the spot tracking camera (the camera the looks at where the ball is landing and not the ball itself) so that it allows you to ball track anything that is 15-25 feet (quick estimate, only to make a point) behind you, but anything further than that it's like one of those balls you read is way over your head so you just break that direction and read it later on the run.

You could widen the area of the spot so it doesn't feel like the game just told you where the ball is but the general area and map a button to switch from looking at the spot to tracking the ball.

But until they do touch up the camera, it helps me to know that if the camera flips the ball is behind me. May be basic info to some but it may help others
