Any thoughts on players that go late or positions that go certain rounds, IE RP in the 9th round. Trying to figure out my strategy.

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
My thoughts - top 7: pick whoever you want, 8-15 best available, 16-30 best hitter, than best pitcher. The reliever run is true for the 9th, I myself would wait and take someone in the 10th-14th. You can still get really good relievers (Justin Wilson/Jordan Walden types) at that point. In the 30's you can grab some decent bench guys like Escabor, Dustin Ackley, Rickard. Also there's pretty decent relievers that are rated in the mid 60's in the late 30's/40's. I'm talking about younger guys with potential and good stuff (koda glover/pat light types). Hope this helpsMLB The Show 20

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
does anyone else edit the top 30 overall relief pitchers and closers to all be closers before starting a draft and make all the others relief pitchers. it always drives me crazy in a draft that a 85 over all closer is valued more in a draft then a 90 relief pitcher who all go the same round.Comment

Unfortunately that seems to be case. Again there's like 3-5 random teams that carry a "normal" bench/bullpen. The rest are 1 man benchesMLB The Show 20

Injuries will cause the CPU to adjust, also if you plan on playing long term, the problem will fix itself after the 1st season.MLB The Show 20

While playing this franchise, I have come to love the new ball physics. Probably gonna temper down the HR sliders a little, amongst some other minor tweaks but man. It's upsetting giving up a bomb, but it seems so much more realistic now that if you make a mistake on a pitch the CPU will make you pay. Depends on how you're planning to build your team. My biggest advice is wait for RP. You can get good value in the 13-16 rounds and focus on getting better position players that way.MLB The Show 20

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Lately during practice runs, whether I'm at the top or the bottom of the draft, I find myself drafting hitters in rounds 1-3, a starter like Carlos Martinez in round 4, maybe another starter in round 5, and then the Betances/Miller strategy in the 7/8.Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Idk I really enjoy getting one of Miller & Betances in the 8th, and sometimes getting both in the 7th and 8th, before the run in the 9th. I feel like this allows me to punt starters a bit early and just have an elite pen. After that I don't really go RP until the 14th or 15th.

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Well it seems like you have your strategy figured out haha. Only other help I can offer is look at page 1 of this thread I have my first 40 picks on there, that way you can kinda see the types of players available and where. 30's- late 40's you can find good utility bench guys. Also Fernando Rodney will go undrafted, as well as a few decent older vets like joe Nathan & ichiro (those types)
For instance, I love the four top third basemen. But Bregman, Franko and Sano are all sitting there in the 6th-7th. It makes me think that first round pick is better spent elsewhere if I'm in the top half.
Same story at SS. I find myself always contemplating the likes of Lindor/Seager in the first or Turner/Correa/Bogearts in the 2nd, but there's great value in Russell/Story/Didi/Swanson in the 8th and 9th.Comment
