      That looks awful.

I don't play RTTS. Like I said, when the ball is in play I'm playing with the Retro Mode cam. Barely any crowd rendering or anything of that nature.

I am seeing the same thing!
How can you tell what framerate the game is playing in?
I am about to go get a PRO tonight I am so disgusted in the way my game looks.
I played one game last night and the framerate was horrible.
        Am I doing something wrong?

Is it really that bad on the basic PS4?

There seems to be alot of conflicting information around the standard version and how it plays, its whats holding me back right now, a silly point, but something I know will spoil my enjoyment if its that noticeable all the time.

Boost mode is exclusive to the PS4 Pro. Your original PS4 does not have it. You go into system settings on the PS4 Pro to select/deselect the Boost Mode box.

                Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro

I'm heading down to GameStop right now to "rent" an OG PS4. After playing more all morning I have three different perceived possibilities:

A.) Pro Mode isn't working as intended for people with 1080p displays (this will depend on what I find when my 4k monitor arrives this week. If HFR performs better on a 4k display than 1080p then that would signal that something isn't triggering correctly when playing this game on a 1080p monitor)

                Or

B.) It's working as intended but the benefit for 1080p users just isn't that substantial (this will depend on what I see on base PS4)

                And an unrelated note

C.) there may be some wonkiness with this game and having boost mode enabled but I, admittedly, haven't been able to reproduce the severity of what I experienced last night. That might have just been a case of the PS4 needing a reboot after a 9 hour session.

I know what you mean. I've seen people say it's much improved on base PS4 then others say they're a hitching every time they practice swing.

There is a hitch on every practice swing... or at least, a brief moment after it reloads the batter camera again (which is normally when I practice swing lol).

If you all are referring to framerate issues in RTTS, I can't speak on that. I don't play in that mode. I haven't had massive framerate issues outside of cutscenes in normal play with the Retro Mode cam on base PS4, but I am very intrigued in picking up a PS4 Pro next weekend or so to see if HFR is worth it or if it boosts my Remote Play experience at all.

                      Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro

Just got a pro yesterday. Graphics look a little better (don't own a 4K tv), but frame rate was super smooth. The game played very well on ps4, but it seems a bit smoother on the better frame rate setting. I'm loving how responsive everything is on the pro. Just toggling between menus seems a little sharper. I can't really explain it.

Has anyone with a pro had issues with system not reading discs? I had this issue numerous times with FIFA 17 and once with The Show. I keep my CDs in very good condition, so I found it a bit odd.

It's super weird, like the game is loading up a bunch of data everytime you practice swing. Looks similar to when the game would hitch when queuing up custom sounds of the show audio last year.

It does help with remote play, you can also stream 1080p on remote play with the Pro.

Performance wise it's like MLB 16, plus some odd and really tedious glitch ( like the hitching during practice swing ) About conflicting information, a lot of guys here now praise the Pro Version because the better framerate. Last year, the same guys were absolutely sure MLB 16 was 60 fps. By the way, don't expect nothing better than MLB 16.

                                Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro

After playing on an OG PS4 for about an hour I feel it's a case of Pro Mode works, the benefits are just less pronounced for 1080p gamers. There is a smoothness difference on the Pro at 1080p (doesn't matter what mode you pick, every mode is HFR mode on 1080p, thats just the default/solitary rendering mode for Pro owners with 1080p displays in this game), it certainly isn't locked 60 but it is very nice. RTTS has frame rate issues in certain instances on the Pro as well. It is better, but not where it needs to be. Playing as catcher there are a couple instances that will trigger easily sub-30 FPS drops on the Pro. It isn't widespread, but it's there still.

I am gonna stick a fork in this because if I keep worrying about it its gonna hamper my enjoyment. The game is awesome and that's all that matters.

My best, non-professional, Just-A-Fat-Guy-In-A-Basement guess is this:

OG PS4 - 1080p resolution with targetted 60fps that probably hovers somewhere between 40-60 in regular gameplay, and who knows what in RTTS

PS4 Pro on 1080 displays - 1080p resolution, 60 fps target that probably hits 60 a lot of the time in regular gameplay and maybe dips between 50-60 sometimes. RTTS is smoother but still has dips anywhere between 25-60 depending on what is happening. I will say that overall there seems to be noticably less judder/hitching on the Pro version, overall. It happens from time to time, though

No apparent downsampling for 1080pers, but I hope that is patched in, as that doesn't make sense to me still. I still wonder if it is a work in progress considering the odd way you can still select the other modes, even if they dont do anything yet.

Hopefully DF or someone legit does a breakdown of this and we can see for sure. Maybe I am way off. Just my honest insight and observations based on my experience.

I think this is a lesson for me not to jump to conclusions out of excitement. When I saw the names of the visual modes when they were revealed on that stream, I assumed that they would work just like Tomb Raider does it, as they are labelled the same. Bad move on my part. Probably also explains why there wasn't a huge hoopla over the Pro enhancements for 1080p gamers other than Russell saying "Yes" to a tweet about 1080p benefits.

In your time with the game so far you haven't noticed anything like this (watch the rendering line in the crowd)

in any of your gameplay? This is a controlled replay, but on hard hit balls where the crowd comes into view suddenly, like mostly on hard hit pulled fouls, I get this rendering line every time

                                another example
