Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
In my franchise Jose Abreu is having not only a career year but a insanely great year. He's hitting .349/.627/.382. He leads the league in Hits, HRs ,RBIs if the season were to end he would win the triple crown. I would like to gauge his value since im on the fence on trading him away. Hes most of my offense if not all of it and im currently contending because of it. Honestly i am considering trading him away because i am rebuilding and i just dont have enough to get thru the post season if i get there.
Edit: Also leading is AVG.

I'm at the trading deadline and I need some help please. Stat line has changed. He's at .346 avg 28 Hrs 84 rbi. Still leading the league in hits hrs rbi and runs

It's difficult to say without knowing what's going on in your franchise. What teams are contending? Of those teams, who really needs a right handed bat more than a pitcher? And of THOSE teams, who has a place for him at first?
What roster are you using and what is his contract? He still has arb years left IRL so if he was hitting like that you could get a B for him, maybe B and high C?
That might seem low but he's a first baseman getting paid 10mil a year so really he should be hitting like that.

Yeah I would be interested in young catching prospects. Unfortunately I can't remember where St. Louis is in the standings.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I agree I like the idea of sending him to Tex. What can I be looking for in a return ??
Jose Abreu .312/.339/.555 11 hrs 39 Rbis
Tex is leading by .5 a game. Napoli is hitting .250/.390/.474 5 Hrs , Gallo is hitting .209/.299/.388

Well he could give them about $100,000,000 so they could pay Davis. But yeah it isn't happening

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I see.
It's realistic to strengthen the Cubs and to tear down the Marlins, but I'm not sure they would be able to help each other out.
Having said that, I did a Cubs franchise in MLBTS 16 and lost to the Bluejays in 2016 WS. Acquired Volquez in the offseason as my 4/5 starter and he helped me beat the Bluejays in the 2017 WS.
I think I traded Happ, Almora, Cease? Maybe only 2 of those guys, I don't remember.
The Cubs are going to go after Archer or Grey or a pitcher of that caliber. Their outfield isn't great but it's still better than average.
If I were the Cubs I'd trade Happ, Almora and a third guy for a high end controllable starter. And I would figure out what my best defence is and play that way, as that is the reason they were so good last year. If that meant playing Bryant in the OF and/or trading Schwarber I would think about it.

I also play all-30 and process trades for the league. Here was my Archer to the Cubs trade:
Rays Get:
Javier Baez
Ian Happ
Eloy Jimenez
Cubs Get:
Chris Archer
Brad Boxberger
Personally, if I was the Cubs I'd rather trade a one dimensional guy like Schwarber than a guy like Baez so swapping them makes more sense for the Cubs. But if I'm the Rays I see a gigantic hole at 2B that I'd like to fill immediately.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I think it would take an overpay, but the Vlad Jr, SRF, McGuire and Howell package should get them going. If you decide to do that I think you should have the Nats trade away Bryce Harper for an absolute haul. If they are in last and rebuilding they would be best off getting a ransom for Harper instead of letting him walk in FAComment

Literally every team with a deep farm and competing. Harper would be the crown jewel of the trade deadline

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Like others have said. He has value, but he's in ARB and started at $10 million so he's going to get PAID. You could get a headliner definitely within the top-100 but top-50 is probably the ceiling for the headliner. There just isn't a huge market for 1B guys right now. What contenders seriously need one? Once we know that it should help
