Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

When I start my Red Sox file, I'll probably look to get out of (I assume) Rusney Castillo's large contract, but I don't think it would be realistic unless another team lost a OF or two and was desperate.

I usually only trade for guys other teams list on the trade block, if I have a surplus at a spot they need and one of their players interests me.

In my opinion if your being realistic, Ellsbury isn't going anywhere unless released because of that huge contract. No team would want to take on that contract.

Don't think there's any trade that would be realistic, especially if we consider real life circumstance. The Red Sox are a contender, and trading Sale would basically kill their chances, given their rotation beyond Sale (Price is hurt, Pomeranz might be hurt and isn't that great, Wright is a guy I'd like to sell high on, and E-Rod isn't exactly prove. After Sale, you have one healthy, reliable arm in Porcello).

I don't even think there's a case where if the Sox are out of it, they consider any trade, given his great contract. Assuming the worst, and that he gets into a fist fight with Dave Dombrowski, demands to be traded, and threatens to cut up the Red Sox uniforms...

The discussion starts and ends with Moncada+Kopech level quality players. The Sox aren't looking for prospects, so it's a no on Eloy Jimenez, Dylan Crease, Albert Almora, etc etc etc. It would have to be major league talent, at either first or third base (don't need middle infield help, and it would make no sense for us to do a trade involving pitching, considering our current status).

I just flat out don't think there's a fit, since there's no way Rizzo or Bryant is involved, and I don't think any Red Sox team would be motivated to move him for anything less than a slam dunk return.

If we were going to do a deal involving Sale (at any point), it would likely involve jettisoning the contracts of Sandoval and Castillo, and getting a high level guy in return. Just can't see the logic in moving him. So happy to get him for the next three years.

I was so sad when he left our team for yours.

But it's been so sweet watching him become... what he has, while we've developed three awesome outfielders.

... still love Ells though, always be a place in my heart for him.

Yea he was really good in his prime but I seen this coming and why I was skeptical when they got him, speed guys don't age well, part of reason I want to see them move Gardener also and let those kids we have in the farm do their thing

Side note: here's to hoping we get some classic Yanks- sox matchups this year like the good old days [emoji481]

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

So I started my temporary franchise with the Dodgers and one thing I have never been able to do is pitch with Ryu. I always give up at least 5-6 runs per game with him so I decided to explore some options and ended up going with a deal that would be big for the future of the Dodgers Rotation.

                  Dodgers Receive:
                  Lance McCullers

                  Astros Receive:
                  Hyun-Jin Ryu
                  2 Low-Level A Potential Prospects

                  Thoughts?

I can definitely drink to that. I miss when Red Sox-Yankees games were can't miss affairs, and there was drama behind every pitch.

Now, the most "real" rivalry I think we have is with the Rays, and that's just disappointing for so many reasons to me. I don't like games played between the two, and often look to see if Syndergaard is pitching for the Mets, or something on the same day. Just don't think the Rays are entertaining to watch, unlike old Yankees teams we would feud with.

I think right now our biggest rivalry in terms of the games meaning more is Baltimore. Both teams are contenders right now, and they're surely still ticked that Mookie owned them last season.

Also Toronto. But I still get up for Yankees games, idc if we're 50 games ahead of them.

As the Sox I am looking to get rid of Drew Pomeranz and Stephen Wright. Both were all-stars last year, and have a couple years of control left. I'm thinking both would absolutely flourish in the NL. I'm looking for a left handed hitter, and I'm thinking Joey Votto. I know he's really good (93 on the game or something) but the terrible Reds owe him A TON of money, for a lot of years and he isn't young. I'm thinking two all star pitchers that are cheap with a couple years of control is a good starting point. Thoughts?

They need young studs for votto. Not two aging pitching castoffs that you dont want. Plus irl, votto said he wont waive his ntc. Maybe Sam White + Groome would be a good start

What would be a realistic deal for Joey Votto. He can't be satisfied in Cincy and I believe he should have been moved in the offseason after the year he had. To rebuild the Reds, this is a MUST
