They have him through 2020. Why should the Angels just give you the best player in the world and let you keep your best young players. Yoan Moncada was a part of the Chris Sale deal. Moncada is better than Torres. Trout is a much better player than Sale.

I don't recall the Red Sox taking back bad contracts either and also the white sox aren't in as bad of a situation as the angels with the contracts. Also the angels farm is garbage.

You are just looking at trout and saying noway but you aren't thinking one guy can't carry a team and the angels are aware if they can hit the reset button they will. It's just no one is willing to take the crap contracts yet but unfortunately the angels will never be anything with trout and they know that.

If the Angels made it known Trout was available they'd get much better offers than the deal you would suggest. It shouldn't be hard to understand why you don't get to keep Torres and Sanchez and get Trout

As hard as it may be for a Yankees fan to rationalize, other teams have no interest in making the Yankees better

I find this funny. Teams are so worried about what the Yankees are doing. How about teams do what makes their futures better and I never even put names out for trout anyways.

Just to circumvent this convo for a moment if I was Brian Cashman I wouldn't trade Sanchez for Trout. Not unless he falls off sharply, his kind of production at catcher is rare.

No one said pennies. You aren't taking the bad contacts into effect at all. You act like those are pennies to take. What could the angels do with 4-8 prospects and an extra 80 million a year?

Agreed. The angels have no prayer of doing anything by 2020 with that roster so what is the point. They might as well get value bc trout is gone after 2020 anyways

I went back and looked Trout with Pujols attached still has $110 in surplus value. So Trout, Hamilton, Pujols and Street would still have around $85 million in surplus value. So even taking on all that salary Trout is still worth more than Torres.

That's the part you aren't getting. Taking on like $80 million on salary this year would still leave Trout insanely valuable. He is the best player on this planet. You can't get him and keep your best players. At most the Angels would attach one bad contract. They're a big market team they don't need to shed a ton of money. Hell they can wait till 2018 and they naturally shed $26 million on Hamilton and they get to keep Trout.

I am the Yankees and want to trade for trout. Am willing to give up any prospects other than Torres and Sanchez.

Yankees record 41-37

Angels terrible record 20-58

Trout is hitting .291 13 HRs 41 RBIs in 68 games

Tyler Austin which has raised his pot to an A is hitting .305 7 Hrs 30 RBIs in 70 games playing 1st base because bird got hurt

I just called Jordan Montgomery up to the MLB after going 9-1 in AAA with an ERA of 1.03.

Everyone else seems to be hitting and pitching what I would consider normal for their rankings.

Torres, Frazier, Rutherford, Sanchez, Judge, Mateo, Sheffield and Fowler is a start.

In other words, it isn't possible. You'd have to give up the entirety of your farm. A Trout trade isn't comparable to even that of the Sale trade. We haven't witnessed a "Trout trade" and for good reason. If you want Trout in NY, just do it. But do it while recognizing that in no way is it "realistic". It's your franchise and you can play it your way. There just isn't going to be anyone in this thread impressed by your team's trajectory/future when it involves a bogus deal.

It doesn't matter that the Angels suck. (Surprisingly in my Franchise, they don't) They have the best player in the league, a future HOF (at this point) and a Top 10 selling jersey in Trout. They couldn't possibly execute a trade with Trout that they could win on. GM's don't keep their jobs by losing trades and they definitely don't keep their jobs by trading away the best player in the league.

It's less rare than getting Mike Trout. Sanchez isn't even the best catcher in the league. Trout is the best player on the freaking planet

My point exactly. I was never saying there wasn't still value but I'm saying the return wouldn't be as crazy as people think like someone saying 7 of the Yankees top 10 prospects. That is well over 85 million in surplus

Dude you can do the trade if you want. But it isn't fair or realistic. The Angels wouldn't deal Trout for spare parts. They only have $88 million in salaries set for 2018. They could just go spend and keep Trout.

If they sold Trout with 1 year left they'd get the quality of prospect back you're talking about.
