I don't have any issues with home runs by the computer. I have given up the 5th fewest home runs and I pitch on Hall of Fame.

My issue only remains that too many runs come from home runs and the lack of doubles.

I'm having the same issues with lack of run variety. I've recently put the game on the shelf and have been playing Madden default all pro and having a blast with the post draft rosters. The show 17 slideritus got out of hand, and I'm just not enjoying the games new direction.

This is undoubtedly the worst case of slideritis I've ever had with The Show. I am really hoping to play the game up until November or so, however. I'm guessing that's when some big titles are going to drop like Red Dead Redemption 2 and whatever Bethesda's new IP (probably Starfield) is.

I have turned solid hits down to 2 with power at 4 I believe, after there being about 5 guys with 8 hrs through the first 7 games of my franchise.

One thing I will say is, using Armor's sliders, I moved the CPU pitching sliders to 5-5-5 (he has them at 4-5-3) and HR's are not an issue at all in the 4 games I've played since then. In those 4 games I've hit 4 HR's and 6 doubles so those doubles are a touch low but I did have 4 in the last game so it's promising.

I will add that the first 3 games on the 5-5-5 setup were with wind at 3 which really hurt my extra base hits across the board (3 HR's & 2 doubles) but last game I bumped the wind up and had 1 HR & 4 doubles. I don't believe the wind plays as great of an effect on HR's as previously thought, some tend to hang longer and get out but I was still hitting them at an alarming rate with wind at 3 and the CPU pitching at 5-4-5. The moment I put that wind back at default my doubles increased for some reason but my HR's did as well, went to 5-5-5 and my doubles still increased but HR's dropped which is exactly what I need.

What are your CPU pitching sliders at for control, consistency and frequency? It will provide a few head scratching moments when the CPU SP will paint corners with a guy who really isn't known for command but I'll have to learn to live with that to avoid the onslaught of HR's that I was getting before.

              Re: Too many HR's?

Post patch, I've begun to have a change of heart. I'm now leaning toward the position that there are too few home runs in franchise and play now with daily rosters.

I'm playing franchise with the Brewers. Other than HRs, stats wise, everything is looking good. I'm racking up doubles and I believe this is the first time I've ever been able to say that run scoring wasn't dependent on the long ball.

However, while I don't want too many, HR's are fun and, thus, I have to admit I'm disappointed with the power outage. My disappointment is compounded with the too frequent experience of sitting on a specific pitch in a specific location, getting the pitch in the expected location, squaring it up with good timing, and watching it land in a glove on the warning track or, worse, producing a routine fly ball.

Post patch, my DD Play CPU and Conquest HR totals seem to be somewhere between the range of statistically perfect to just slightly high. But given its a DD lineup loaded with power hitting silvers and golds and that I'm merely facing the standard CPU repertoire, that output has to be deemed low.

Statistically I did not notice a significant difference in average or runs with the patch, although I did experience a slight average boost. However, I did notice a significant drop off in power as well as a significant change in how hits were being produced and the ball was coming off the bat.

For contextual purposes, I'm playing all modes on All-Star with default sliders and using zone hitting.

Are you using non-default slider settings? If so, what are your settings?

Not sure how long a stretch of games you are talking about... but if you are producing solidly hit doubles just fine (about 1 - 2 per game per team on average), then I think you are likely just in an unlucky stretch of HR drought.

With Zone interface, however, your PCI placement has A LOT to do with the hit variety you produce... so I'd check with Batter Analysis if your hitting approach is producing well balanced variety of batted balls (fly balls/line drives/ground balls).

Typically people tend to move PCI down even unconsciously (since the natural movement of thumb is to move L3 downward) when they Zone-hit... so I think the vast majority of people tend to produce pop-ups/fly balls compared to ground balls.

If you are producing line-drive doubles realistically as you say, you probably don't suffer from this "too many popup/fly ball" issue... but it's possible you are not swinging under often enough to give the ball loft for some of your doubles to become HRs.

Yes, albeit at the top, doubles are in the range of statistically normal.

Regarding PCI placement, for which I'm type A, I'm absolutely certain miss-placement isn't a factor. Ball physics off the bat, in relation to PCI placement and timing, is certainly a problem and the only item, other than servers, that I would classify as a major flaw in this game needing correction. But, while it is among the potential causes I'm entertaining, I'm not yet certain that it is the primary cause or even a significant contributor to my low HR totals.

My recent addition to this thread was not intended to be a solicitation for help or a condemnation of the game. Being I had previously contributed to this thread, as a bandwagon member that HR frequency was too high, I, perhaps erroneously, thought my post patch experiences might enrich the discussion and further insights.

I can't remember who suggested it or I'd give them credit, but turning CPU pitcher control and strike frequency back to default essentially saved this game for me. The problem with home runs is the excessive meatballs the CPU throws right down the plate when you put CPU control too low or play on low levels. Since making changes I'd seen a decrease in home runs and a increase in doubles.

What do you have consistency at? I know I advocated for a 5-5-5 approach and have been having fantastic results since making the change. My HR's and doubles are right in line with league averages and despite my terrible 6-7 record since making the change I'm enjoying every second of it. In my last 3 games alone I lost by 1 run, lost by 1 run when I hit into a double play in the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded costing me the game. The game after that, and most recent, I came back from down 4-0 to make it 4-3 heading into the bottom of the 8th only to strike for 4 runs and win the game 7-4. My stats are pretty solid across the board, best my stats have ever looked on any version of The Show that I've played to date.

Curious, did you edit fielder reaction, fielder speed? I'm playing AS Default for hitting and I'm giving up doubles but not hitting many.

I use Armor & Sword's sliders verbatim other then the CPU pitching sliders I mentioned. I believe he did indeed lower those though.

EDIT - Fielder Speed is at 3 and reaction is at 4.
