As stated above I think people just wanna play on the lower to mid range difficulties this year and are expecting the same experience. You can't do that in year to year titles and expect it to be the same experience. It's fine if they wanna stretch out the difficulty ranges a bit more and make the game more accessible in the lower catagories and make the upper difficulty levels more viable. Putting the game on legend last year with directional hitting would've been a complete joke, maybe not on zone if you're really good. But personally I don't like to use zone hitting and would at least like legend difficulty to be something that would be possible for someone using directional, in the past that wouldn't have been possible. At least play around with dynamic difficulty first to see what range you should be looking at this year.
Also I felt there were too many homeruns last year at first as well and upping the difficulty largely fixed that issue for me.
