No they will be two different players.

Example, I play with the Rockies and I am anticipating that Greg Holland will the the Rockies closing pitcher in 2017. Presently because Holland did not play any games in 2016, he is not in the current MLB 17 The Show game. I could wait a week or two before I begin my season and wait for the game to release a new roster where Holland is back in the game (assuming he actually plays in a real world game in the majors between opening day and when the rosters are released). But I don't want to wait, I want my season to start now. So I created my own Greg Holland using attributes taken from a OSFM roster set. From this point forward my Greg Holland and any Greg Holland coming from the game maker will always be different players.

This is the very reason why I never cared about the "carry over your Franchise" gimmick. A lot of players are suddenly going to turn into ugly created players and ruin the "feel" of that save. I just started a new Franchise every year and usually finish about 3 seasons before the next game comes out.

i'm in 2020 of my RTTS save and Jose Fernandez became Richie Davis, ace pitcher for the padres (my team mate). honestly i don't remember what team ventura was on when i switched over so i can't find him.

but the weirdest thing about a week ago i was playing that same save file and it was the 2019 season and there was a Jose Fernandez vs Yordano Ventura starting pitching matchup. I think they both took shutouts pretty deep into the game.

This is correct. I carried over a previous years Braves franchise that had Brandon Beachy and Kris Medlen thriving because neither of them ended up with TJ surgery like they did for the real Braves and they were both generated players that I had to rename. I remember they didn't have audio for Beachy or Medlen so I ended up with Beach and Medley as the audio as that was the closest thing available.

I would do the same for these players - give them their old names back and let them live on in the virtual world.

I imported my last year's Franchise file, and Jose Fernandez was now "J.J. Thompson", the ace ringer for the Boston Red Sox.

Thompson would have one of the most magical seasons possible, in 2019, even in a home run heavy environment. Especially a home run heavy environment. He would win almost every major award on his way to the playoffs, where he was nigh unhittable.

He would even come within 4 outs of a no-hitter in World Series game 1, only failing to do so because of an errant Mike Trout ground ball (in this franchise, Mike Trout has somehow ended up on the Dodgers).

Thompson would pitch again in Game 4, this time in relief. Coming in, with a 4-3 lead (the Sox were leading the series 3-0), in the 7th inning, Thompson would set down the heart of the lineup, then mow through the bottom of the lineup, before turning the ball over to Craig Kimbrel, who would finish the job.

Just a final bump for anyone that loaded up their year to year franchise mode save.

Jose signed a 7 year $210M deal with the Cubs as a Free Agent in 2019 in my game. He is now Tyrell Amin. 121 career wins, 2.72 career ERA, 1,970 strikeouts (end of 2023 season). At 30, he's still a 97 OVR and one of the top pitchers in the league (13-6 2.57 ERA in 2023)

Yordano became Nicholas Soleri. He was traded to Toronto at the trade deadline in 2022. 105 career wins, 4.38 ERA, 1,565 strikeouts. Never quite lived up to his ace hype with his only season with a sub 4 ERA was in the 2016 season that started off this particular franchise

Is Jose fernandez's pitching motion still in the game? It would be cool to use in rtts.
